Hello All !!

We've hired a car (via this website!!)for a couple of days next week so that we can get out and about and see a few sights in Corfu.

Any suggestions as to great places to head for, and where to take refreshment on route??

We have hired a car for the odd day. Drive down to paleokastritsa, the drive down to the town is breath-taking. We preferred the harbour side to the beach side, it was a bit crowded. A visit to Aghios George (not sure how it is spelt but it is the next bay south from arilla) is well worth it. The sea here can be cold & rocky & slippy undefooot which makes getting in & out of the water fun! We call it Ag georgious.
Then you could head north, we tend to dip in & out of coastal towns.
We also drove ourselves to aqualand last year which makes a change form sea & sand. great fun if you're into huge water slides.

Hope this helps.

Hiya Quack John.
We hired a car last year and can recommend a drive to Peraloudes which isn't far from Arillas.
Lovely clifftop bar and a nice beach down the steps.
Also down the east coast road south of Kassiopi a lovely harbour and beach called Kaloura. You can actually drive the car onto the beach.
Enjoy yourselves !!
Hope I don't burn !

If you fancy a break from the beach, try a drive up Mount Pantokrator and Old Perithia.

Thanks everyone, We've noted all the recommendations and will be marking them off on our map for visiting.

Much appreciated.

As already suggested I can also recommend Peroulades and Paleokastritsa.
The best way to go to Paleo is through Agios Georgios then Pagi village where you turn right up through Prinillas and on to Makrades.  The climb from Prinilas offers terrific views especially at the top. While in Makrades take the turn to visit Angelokastro ruined fort. I am not sure if it has re-opened this year after restoration though. The drive down from Makrades to Paleokastritsa is not to be forgotten.
Also don't miss the village next to Arillas, Afionas.

Yes agree with iluvsangeorge, that route to Paleokastrritsa is the best one.  I posted a thread on here about that route, it is an experience.

If you do visit Peroulades try lunch at Alexis Taverna on the road between Peroulades and Melitsa towards Sidari.  Have the lamb chops and boiled potatoes, you will be in heaven!

p.s. and we want to hear all about it when you return! haha
