Dimitris, I hope it is ok to start this "topic" and could you make it a "Sticky please?

This is a Photograph A to Z of our ( the forum members) holiday memories. There are no rules to this except people post one photo at a time with the next letter in the alphabet. This could be a placename, taverna, natural feature, animal etc etc - use your imagination. I wonder how many times we can go through the alphabet?

It was taken up at Sandy and Joyce's house which is not too far from us.  Their house has a million dollar view don't you think? 

I'm not too good with all the techie stuff but it seems that my photo has lost some of it's definition when I downsized it.

Activation usually takes seconds but it doesn't like hotmail addresses,

It doesnt like mine, its taking ages.  Also I cant remember what I have to do from there.  I will get back to you if I get stuck.

I am getting a bit fed up now with waiting for the filehigh thing.  Anyone else have an idea how I can add a photo please.

I registered about half an hour ago and my activation email came straight through within seconds.

I set this up to have a practice on. Because you are using filehigh as a storage area purely for this forum you needn't worry about confidentiality. All the photos you store will be published on the forum. It is really just a remote storage area for forum photographs.

Lots of users could use it.

I finally managed to work it out..but I didn't do it on my own...my 34 year old son came to the rescue after seeing my plight and has conquered filehigh...here is the frog!

Blondegirl, Could the lady in the Journey home pic, be the mystery lady from the beach with clothes on. She could be carrying supplies for the donut man.

I think some photographs can invoke a kind of story in your head. Maybe we could have a weekly "add a caption" post. Someone posts a photo and we have a week to add captions, then at the end of each week Dimitris could pick a winner. It all helps to fend off severe Arillusitis.

Just back from camping in Wales, this thread seems to have taken off well! Nice one Terry. I have just had a look at the Imageshack website but will have to suss it out properly later. I use Fotopic and post links to pictures on there.

I haven't had time to post anything over the weekend but I know that from doing this before certain letters like x,y q and z can be difficult.

The following web sites give lots of words and many can be tailored to describe a photograph eg:-  xylopolist ......   one who sells wood - could be used for olive wood.

Try it, it does help, and you can show off with a vast vocabulary.

What is a cicada exactly? It looks disgusting!

I dont really know what I am doing... but I have been using Imageshack... and it has a resizing area..  I use the message board and tick that, or you can use the thumbnail for small things.,  it's all trial and a lot of errors!

2-3 inches long...yeuch.   Despite the deafening noise they make, which seems to reach a crescendo in the early evening, I've yet to see one.  I'm going to keep my peepers open now that I know what they actually look like.

ooohhh, my skins all crawly.  we were looking for them walking down to the centre, like eileen says they are really loud, but 2-3 inches long!! imagine if i was poking around in a bush trying to find one and it leapt on me, you would hear my screams in san stefanos! hehe. 

I think Cicada Crunch with Olives sounds like a lovely starter. How about trying it Dimitris as the Brouklis Bush Tucker special? I'd try it.....honest

D for Dancers - at the Horizon on 5th July 2007

I hate insects etc so it was good to know that they dont bite etc!! I know i know i am a big wuss!!

I remember them well Terry..  mainly because the young guy had very shapely legs!  ;)  I was so glad I wasnt asked to dance on the table with him, as if!!! There wasnt room for both of us   LOL

Out photos are not so clear as that.

The dancing was so funny. In one dance you had to put your hand between your legs so the person behind you could hold it and you had to hold the persons hand in front of you and then walk in a line.

The next day after doing this we were doing the San Stefanos walk and met a couple and I realised that the bloke was the person in front of me doing the dancing and his partner was the girl behind me. We exchanged hello's and I said to the bloke " do you realise that your partner had her hands between my legs last night, and I had my hands between yours". They were a lovely couple and we had a good laugh about it.

mazzz - if you read this post ........ we did swing a bit whilst doing the "holding the hands between the legs walk!!!!!!!

Noufris is the middle right of the picture in green. Just after we took this he fowled an opponent, well away from the ball, and when the ref wasn't looking. They carried the guy off. After the match he told us the chap kept pulling his shirt.
So moral of story is " When at Brouklis do not do this to attract his attention "

The pitch is what they call a Division 3 pitch. Like a very fine grit which, I'm told hurts, when you hit the ground. ( Div 1 play on astroturf - not sure on Div 2 )

Note the spectators. This maybe a Greek way of "Crowd Control"
( 1 supporter per team - and they're probably cousins ! )
In honesty they did have a lot of support.

The photo at the Galini is interesting because the couple on the left, sitting  at the table, were at Brouklis when we had our first meal there on the second day of our holiday. They were from Yorkshire and we had a lovely chat to them. It was them who pointed you out as "blondegirl" from the forum.

On my photo, which was taken at Brouklis, I have just realised that you can see Dimitris just over my right shoulder.

Thats right, thats Peter and Evie from Leeds I think they come from.  They are such a lovely couple. I hit it off with Evie straight away and we had such a laugh last year at the Galini in the swimming pool and it was great to meet up with them again this year.  I think thats what made the holiday even better this year was meeting up again.  You always meet some very nice people in Arillas.

I remember we first met you at the Brouklis when we were looking at Demitris and Litsas wedding album.

We went to a "friendly" game in Crete one year.  Some friends were playing at midnight and  obviously floodlit, they had all finished work and it was much cooler to play then.  It was quite enjoyable sitting outside at nice cafe tables with a drink chatting when the men were glued to the game.  Another happy experience to remember.

H for "Had Enough" I was so full that I couldn't finish Mary's delicious homemade cheesecake at the Horizon. This was our last evening meal of the holiday and I was so full after two weeks of eating too much. But oh so satisfying.

Terry...mine was taken a couple of years ago I think.. I have taken that many photos of Arillas over the last few years that my son always aks me why i take my camera..as I keep taking the same photos

We found that when we went to Sidari many years ago.  We used to take photos of the Canal D'Amour rock formations every year - god knows why!

H for High Road ....... Does anyone recognise the Taverna in the distance? I can't remember the name of it. I was not very impressed with it when we called for a drink and to look at the view one day.

If I remember correctly it is rather unsurprisingly called the Panorama.  We have occasionally stopped off for coffees, it's a handy half way point if meeting up with someone for Corfu town!

Glad you liked the Early Morning shot at the Horizon, Eggy.  It was the reflections in the pool that made it for me.  Sorry the Speedos from Ina's Minimarket were not quite to your taste.  Perhaps I'm not cut out for the male modelling either - they don't seem to go for the mature male, do they?
By the way, the sneeky plant, I was told, was called something like 'Countess Sarah', but couldn't find anyone who could tell me if it was a variety of hibiscus or something else.  It was certainly very beatiful - so perhaps the title of my photo should have been beauty and the beast!
Marika keeps coming up with some good ones - I always wondered why the bench was behind the bush - there must be a good reason - its obviously not for the view.
Now we just need an M to keep the pot boiling and to move on towards Z for Eggy.

U is for URN - a Grecian Urn.
This one is outside the Marina, near the jetty and had some pretty flowers in it in June 2007.

Alan - hope you get on well with the Eileen's advice.  I've managed to get filehigh working fortunately, but it is a bit fiddly.  Good luck.

This pic was taken in 2004 and I'd just swum out to the little island with the flag on it.  When I got back to the beach my dear wife was asleep and had missed my heroic
