Title: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: TerryW on August 08, 2007, 01:15:09 PM Dimitris, I hope it is ok to start this "topic" and could you make it a "Sticky please?
This is a Photograph A to Z of our ( the forum members) holiday memories. There are no rules to this except people post one photo at a time with the next letter in the alphabet. This could be a placename, taverna, natural feature, animal etc etc - use your imagination. I wonder how many times we can go through the alphabet? So here is the first one A for Armourada (http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n179/terrylwarner/Armourada.jpg) Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: blondegirl on August 08, 2007, 04:52:10 PM how do you add a photo here Terry?

Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: Eileen on August 09, 2007, 04:42:33 PM Hi Terry & Smiffy,
It was taken up at Sandy and Joyce's house which is not too far from us. Their house has a million dollar view don't you think? I'm not too good with all the techie stuff but it seems that my photo has lost some of it's definition when I downsized it. Eileenxx Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: blondegirl on August 09, 2007, 04:43:52 PM Oh I like that photo.
I dont think I can do it quick enough, I have an "F"....so I will try now. Also I cant remember what I have to do from there. I will get back to you if I get stuck.
Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: blondegirl on August 09, 2007, 05:54:35 PM I am getting a bit fed up now with waiting for the filehigh thing. Anyone else have an idea how I can add a photo please.
Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: Shuey on August 09, 2007, 06:05:39 PM I registered about half an hour ago and my activation email came straight through within seconds.
Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: blondegirl on August 09, 2007, 06:07:07 PM I wonder if I should do it again
Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: TerryW on August 09, 2007, 06:07:21 PM Sue
Go To www.filehigh.com login as arillasforum password = corfu I set this up to have a practice on. Because you are using filehigh as a storage area purely for this forum you needn't worry about confidentiality. All the photos you store will be published on the forum. It is really just a remote storage area for forum photographs. Lots of users could use it. Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: blondegirl on August 09, 2007, 06:35:44 PM I finally managed to work it out..but I didn't do it on my own...my 34 year old son came to the rescue after seeing my plight and has conquered filehigh...here is the frog!

This is a reply on uploading pics that I gave on another thread. If you can be bothered (I know what it's like to get frustrated with this stuff!) you could maybe give it a try...I know that Benita managed it and was fair chuffed with herself :-) "O.K this is how I did it, but maybe others will have other methods.... * Go to http://www.imageshack.us/ * Click on the browse tab and select your pic from file * Type in your email address * Use the drop-down menu to re-size your image according to where you are posting it. * Then click host it * A few seconds later another page will appear on the screen, scroll down it until you come down to the box titled 'Direct Link to Image'. Copy and paste the text in the box * Now onto the Arillas Forum. * When in the Post reply text box go up to the icons which run along the top of the box and choose the Insert Image icon. The icon is like a little picture.(it is next to the one that looks like a spinning (wheel) * This text will appear (img) (/img) Between the two sets of brackets insert the code which you copied and pasted from the Imageshack page. There you go, that's the best explanation I can do, give it a try...good luck smiley Eileenxx [/list]" Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: vivian on August 09, 2007, 08:14:08 PM G for Gallina but havent got a picture.

Eileenxx Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: TerryW on August 10, 2007, 12:40:05 PM Smiffy - I am disappointed in you, I was expecting some photos from you ...... come on ....get em up.
Blondegirl, Could the lady in the Journey home pic, be the mystery lady from the beach with clothes on. She could be carrying supplies for the donut man. I think some photographs can invoke a kind of story in your head. Maybe we could have a weekly "add a caption" post. Someone posts a photo and we have a week to add captions, then at the end of each week Dimitris could pick a winner. It all helps to fend off severe Arillusitis. Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: neilelaine on August 13, 2007, 04:22:51 PM Just back from camping in Wales, this thread seems to have taken off well! Nice one Terry. I have just had a look at the Imageshack website but will have to suss it out properly later. I use Fotopic and post links to pictures on there.
http://www.fotopic.net/ Thing is, I cant find a picture of anything that starts with an X,Y or Z from all of the photos I took while I was there! When's your X coming up Eggy and Viv and Blondegirl's Z's? Yammas (clue!) for now, Neil. Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: TerryW on August 13, 2007, 10:07:13 PM I haven't had time to post anything over the weekend but I know that from doing this before certain letters like x,y q and z can be difficult.
The following web sites give lots of words and many can be tailored to describe a photograph eg:- xylopolist ...... one who sells wood - could be used for olive wood. Try it, it does help, and you can show off with a vast vocabulary. http://phrontistery.info/x.html http://www.webdictionary.co.uk/browse.php?browse=X&block=1 Ok here is my X - xenodocheionology (love of hotels) and I loved this one.......Marino can be seen on the deck and the web cam can be seen. Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: TerryW on August 15, 2007, 12:21:44 PM Hi pg32
Cicada's are the insects that make this sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqtBvOls5Hg Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: Lozicle on August 15, 2007, 12:52:01 PM A cicada is an insect of the order Hemiptera, suborder Auchenorrhyncha, in the superfamily Cicadoidea, with large eyes wide apart on the head and usually transparent, well-veined wings. There are approximately 2,500 species of cicada around the globe, and many remain unclassified. Cicadas live in temperate to tropical climates where they are one of the most widely recognized of all insects, mainly due to their large size and remarkable (and often inescapable) acoustic talents.
Cicadas do not bite or sting, are benign to humans, and are not considered a pest. Many people around the world regularly complement their standard diet with cicadas: the female is prized for eating as it is meatier. Cicadas have been eaten (or are still eaten) in Ancient Greece, China, Malaysia, Burma, Australia, Latin America and the Congo. So there ya go ! That particular one was about 2 - 3 inches long. Ugly little bugger too. By all means Terry, you're very welcome to use the image :) Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: Eileen on August 15, 2007, 01:05:28 PM 2-3 inches long...yeuch. Out photos are not so clear as that. Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: TerryW on August 15, 2007, 03:36:39 PM The dancing was so funny. In one dance you had to put your hand between your legs so the person behind you could hold it and you had to hold the persons hand in front of you and then walk in a line.
The next day after doing this we were doing the San Stefanos walk and met a couple and I realised that the bloke was the person in front of me doing the dancing and his partner was the girl behind me. We exchanged hello's and I said to the bloke " do you realise that your partner had her hands between my legs last night, and I had my hands between yours". They were a lovely couple and we had a good laugh about it. mazzz - if you read this post ........ we did swing a bit whilst doing the "holding the hands between the legs walk!!!!!!! Noufris is the middle right of the picture in green. Just after we took this he fowled an opponent, well away from the ball, and when the ref wasn't looking. They carried the guy off. After the match he told us the chap kept pulling his shirt. So moral of story is " When at Brouklis do not do this to attract his attention " The pitch is what they call a Division 3 pitch. Like a very fine grit which, I'm told hurts, when you hit the ground. ( Div 1 play on astroturf - not sure on Div 2 ) Note the spectators. This maybe a Greek way of "Crowd Control" ( 1 supporter per team - and they're probably cousins ! ) In honesty they did have a lot of support. The photo at the Galini is interesting because the couple on the left, sitting at the table, were at Brouklis when we had our first meal there on the second day of our holiday. They were from Yorkshire and we had a lovely chat to them. It was them who pointed you out as "blondegirl" from the forum. On my photo, which was taken at Brouklis, I have just realised that you can see Dimitris just over my right shoulder. It was quite enjoyable sitting outside at nice cafe tables with a drink chatting when the men were glued to the game. Another happy experience to remember.

The kitchen window is direkt 1m right from this window, so if you wash up, you have this beautiful view to the island Mathraki. Very interesting photos all round. PatrickJohn - Lovely picture of "G" ( Horizon ) but concerned about the "I" The last time I had a picture taken of me, in speedos, I jokingly remarked taking a career as a male model. The reply was " Don't give up yer day job " ( That is a piece of plant sneaking it's way behind your legs is is not ?) I wonder how Big Gus is. I think he went backto America. Not sure. Hopefully If I can time it right I'll get my poor contribution in for a "Z" soon. Negg Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: Marika on August 26, 2007, 11:59:11 AM L => laugh

Glad you liked the Early Morning shot at the Horizon, Eggy. It was the reflections in the pool that made it for me. Sorry the Speedos from Ina's Minimarket were not quite to your taste. Perhaps I'm not cut out for the male modelling either - they don't seem to go for the mature male, do they? By the way, the sneeky plant, I was told, was called something like 'Countess Sarah', but couldn't find anyone who could tell me if it was a variety of hibiscus or something else. It was certainly very beatiful - so perhaps the title of my photo should have been beauty and the beast! Marika keeps coming up with some good ones - I always wondered why the bench was behind the bush - there must be a good reason - its obviously not for the view. Now we just need an M to keep the pot boiling and to move on towards Z for Eggy. Best wishes PJ Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: vivian on August 26, 2007, 01:23:32 PM Think this speaks for itself Viv

Quite a few of us have had the same problem, but I sussed out a way for myself (now I can assure you that was very clever coming from non-techie me!) and I posted the following instructions in an earlier post: O.K this is how I did it, but maybe others will have other methods.... There you go, that's the best explanation I can do, give it a try...good luck smiley Eileenxx Title: Re: A to Z - Photographs of Arillas and Corfu Post by: patrickjohn on August 26, 2007, 11:03:34 PM (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee60/patjmcn/DSCF0962GrecianUrnArillas.jpg) U is for URN - a Grecian Urn.
