It gives a quick view of who is in Arillas at the same time.

I have had to do it with Microsoft Publisher, but I am sure that there would be a better way to show this information. Maybe on a "Holiday Calendar" which could be seperate to the "Events Calendar"

Between May and October last year I met 31 forum members + partners + family.
A quick calculation makes that approx 72 people !

If I exceed that figure this year it could mean one of two things.
1. By October 08 I will not be able to stand up.
2. Before Oct 08 my liver would have been donated to medical science as another wonder of the world.

I managed to see the calender... brilliant idea!  You can see exactly who will be out there at the same time..

I was just looking at the calendar and thought that it would be good idea to book a table (hopefully a long table) at the Brouklis for a night when we are there together. It could be a fun night eating together and we could keep Dimitris out of mischief.

Its just an idea and it would be difficult to fit in with everyone on a two week stay, due to overlaps.

Eggy and Wegg would just have to cancel their social life for the Summer months as it would be nice if they joined in.

I appreciate that some people will want to "do their own thing" and not want to join in but for myself I think it would be sad to not meet people who I communicate with nearly every day of the year.

Its just another mad idea for a bit of brainstorming.

What browser do you use and how fast is your internet link? I have found that the my.calendars.net site is a bit slow  and connections can time out.

Firefox loads the site faster than Internet Explorer.

There is some software available at  http://www.visualroute.com/lite.html that will help you to trace a route to any web site from your PC. The download is free and is quick to install.

I hope this helps and if it doesn't we will try again till it does work.

No you wont Gaye we arrive on Fri 1st for two weeks.

We did that last year a couple of times with the "Galini Gang".  we met a great crowd of people on our first visit the year before last, then last year we actually were all in Arillas again at the same time and met up for a meal in the Captains.  Didnt recognise everyone with their clothes on!!! ;-)  This year we are all going at different times.

Try Firefox from www.mozilla.com and I am certain that it will work. The security settings on your IE may be set to high. Windows Defender can also cause connection problems. SP1

If you use a wireless router, turn it off and then turn it back on. This will reset the network settings by assigning a new IP address and rebind the TCP  protocols to the network layer.

Try disabling the firewall before you try the website, but remember to turn it back on again.

I am sure that Firefox will work.

Just noticed your post of 27th Feb.

I think I've said, on another topic, but what we miss, living in Corfu, is our 4 weeks holiday a year.
Oh to be in Arillas, walking distance to all the Tavernas that we love. Oh to be able to have those few extra drinks and not have to get in a car to get home.
( I can wobble back to a local appt as well as anybody )

We budget for about 56 nights out per year and probably 30 of those are between May to Sept. We are lucky here that Wegg, being a diddy person, has a small appetite and. quite often, has a couple of starters which fill her up. I can order less for me on the understanding that I can dispose of what Wegg doesn't want.

I calculate that we could go out 5 nights every week between May to Sept but in 4 years we would have shaved a year off our living in Corfu budget.
( Pity I can't win the Lotto)

All this said, If we can get to any big evening get together then we will. Even if it's only few a couple of drinks mid evening, just to say hello.
And, too be fair,all some people want is a quick hello.
( Personal time and all that jazz. Nothing wrong there. Holidays aren't appointments )

I love to put faces to names and, as said before, most afternoons I can be found in the Coconut.
To any forum member who hasn't met me then just come and say hello.

Hi Eggy. Jen and me just read your post and are lost for words. As usual though, we'll find some...

We also don't see our future life as one long holiday, but like you, we'll miss the anticipation, the packing, the arrival etc. The being able to have one or two too many and waddle up the hill to Annas or Alex's.

Like you, we would love to do Terry's Brouklis night (yes, Terry mate, put our names down - I'll bring the Christopsomo...) If it's only a meet-and-greet or a night-long party, we will love it.

And as for 9 to 5, as far as I'm concerned, Dolly Parton can keep it.

Hi everybody,

We're going back in May from the 17th to the 25th & we're staying in rooms above the Brouklis!
I'm so excited, I can hardly contain myself!

Christian & I came to Arillas for the first time last September & like so many of you - fell for it hook, line & sinker!
We had always promised ourselves a trip to the Island in Spring time as we traditionally go early Sept.
We stayed at the Akti last year, but I was really keen to try & do it independantly this time round as the costs of flights, accomodation just wasn't doing it for me I'm afraid!

Anyway, long story short. We've booked through Easy Jet - cracking deal on the flights from Gatwick & we also get an extra night which I'm certainly not complaining about.
I'm really pleased to be staying at the Brouklis & meeting Dimitris & family & I hope there will be some forum members around when we're there?

On a slightly different note. I was on the Easy Jet website ( fairly obvious considering we're flying with them)&they also taxi runs form the Airport to all the various resorts.
Out of curiousity I looked at the cost to Arillas & what they're asking is considerably more than Dimitris' cousin - so I know who I'm booking with & I reckon we're really lucky folks - 50 Euros without the hassle of waiting for the coach etc is SO worth it!

Glad I could share our news & would be interested to hear how other folk are making their way there?

I would like to say 'hello' Eggy as you are it has to be said, a bit of a legend, but I'm a bit shy & don't want to hassle you!
I'm sure after a large glass of wine, I might overcome my nerves though!

The thing is, most people would be more than fine if you were to approach them & mentioned the forum etc. I think it's just a case of being slightly reserved & not wanting to 'bug' people - after all, it is their holiday.

OOO my, Your post has just brought our first day ever in Arillas to mind.
We went to see Dimitris and there was this chap in the corner that Dimitris introduced us to, we were polite and said hello then our meal came so we got on with it. At the end of the night this guy came over to say goodnight and of he went. I turned round to Pete and said "I dont know if im ment to know that fella or not his not to friendly is he maybe his shy" and we carried on with our everning. The next day we went for a walk and the same guy came up to us and said " I didn't like to join you on your table as I didn't want to impose on your holiday". These days when we get to Arillas we cant wait to see this fella and his wife. Yep youve guessed it Eggy and Wegg and believe me they could never be imposition if they tried. We love them both, dont worry about being shy you dont have to think of things to talk about Eggy will lead the conversation for you. LOL Viv

When we went to Arillas last year after a couple of day's we went "Eggy Hunting".
Walked into the Coconut and saw a guy with a shaved head.
So I goes over and say's to him "Are you Eggy"?
This bloke looked at me as if I'd just murdered all of his family !
Wrong bloke !
Anyway we met him a little bit later and he wasn't half as scary as the first guy !
Just be careful who you ask is "Eggy" in a bar !

Eggy doesn't mind one little bit. But as Viv said, and very nicely too, we never like to impose on anyone's holiday. We beleive that holidays are very personal to all.
However, if someone says, " Im in the Coconut/Malibu tomorrow,fancy an ouzo?"................

But we are back in England for a wedding on the 22nd May so, depending what flight we get home we may not be here that week. ( possibly be around on the 17th/18th )

We could have two types on the go. One that reads " I've met Eggy & have the T'shirt to prove it!"

And another one (for mere novices like me) that reads, " I'm looking for Eggy" on one side & on the other side " Ouzo Anyone?"

We could even try themed ones - what about the Easter T'shirt that might read " I'm on an Egg(y) Hunt!"

I felt the same way about approaching Eggy when I thought I saw him walking along the beach... shall I, shan't I.... now I have seen a proper photo I realise now it was someone else.  Now this year I shall definately keep my eyes open and say Hi properly.  Perhaps you could wear a recognisable hat Eggy, then we wont make any embarassing mistakes.

Remember meeting you Terry in the Brouklis.. also Peter and Evie were there as well.  I was a bit embarassed to say the least that people did recognise me as BG the first time, no getting away from it now though unless I change my hair color.

We will be there 30th May until 27th June and cannot wait to meet up with old  and new friends. Last year was the first time we plucked up courage to speak to Forum members, but it does get easier as the wine flows!. We met Sharon F and Billy on their first night  back in Arilas at Vavilas Fish restaurant and on our next visit to Vavilas I realised that Vivian and Pete were sat at the next table.

Commiserations on yesterday.

However as we live in Barnsley I'm glad we won't be playing you in the cup!!!

We will be back 19th - 26th September. I am really looking forward to being there, but it means that our summer (if we have one) will be over, so I won't say I can't wait.

June 2nd Me and Caroline,( 1 week) No kids staying with the Grandparents

then back again on July 25th for two weeks with Abigail and Matthew.

Then hopefully once more before the end of the season

then of course depending on Easy Jet might even make a winter visit, it will be nice to fly there without the stop over in Athens.

One advantage I can see in doing this, is that I can imagine that not all forum members would welcome being approached in a restaurant, or on the beach etc. by complete strangers, with an "Excuse me , but are you......?"
They may wish to keep their identity concealed, and consider it an invasion of privacy.
If we do it this way, then we can assume that anyone in 'Forum corner' at 8.00pm is probably a forum member wanting to meet others.

(Sorry Johntheref, I seem to have hijacked your idea! - will a large Metaxa or Ouzo suffice as an apology?

That's a good suggestion John, it was interesting to read Angie's thoughts too.  We find that there is not enough time on holiday to meet up with everyone we would like to, so we would probably take advantage of the 'members corner'.

I can't think of a down side Angie... just don't suggest we wear a red rose, or t-shirt or anything remotely naffy like that! ;-)

we're going to be there on the 23rd june now, for 2 weeks. nothing we could do about the flight change, we could have cancelled and re booked, flying from a different airport, for DOUBLE THE PRICE!!! martin has sorted out the new dates with his boss, luckily! this happened to us last year, we were going to the pelopennese, but they cancelled the flight completely that time! that happened around easter time, i wonder if they re view the flight timetable then? so is it worth booking up early when all you get is more hassle and having to juggle everything around!

Wow Tony, I always wanted to hang of like that but my Dad wouldn't let me, I always had to ride pillion but had a 650 bonnie a few months before I got pregnent with our Michelle a long time ago and then Pete said I shouldnt be rideing. What a bummer that was. To say I first went pillionn at 3 years old with a leather belt round me tied to Dad and now I have only been on a bike about 3-4 times in 38 yrs. Viv

We are going 1 September for two weeks.  Seems ages away.

I am reading this at work and giving out a deep sigh with a twinge of jealousy.
But on the bright side: ONLY 25 sleeps to D-day :D

Hi,everyone. Just been reading this about when people are off to Arillas. Heather and I hopefully will be there at end of August/first week September. Last year we came back from Jimmy and Spiros Rainbow on 15 October. First week was great- second week a washout. What have other peoples` experiences been in October? End of September will be the latest for us,I think. As soon as we leave to come home,we miss the place. For me its the tranquility that does it. We head off yo Kerkyra when we need some excitement. We are hoping to be in Arillas for all of September including our 36th anniversary, so might see you there. Still working on it...

We were also there for the last week of the season - your second week. Yes it rained a lot, but we seemed to get past that. I even swam in the sea - it was really quite warm.

Met Eggy in the Coconut twice, and he took a picture of us which he posted in Arillas Today. We were newbie forum members then and barely knew anything about it. 400 posts later, they seem to believe I'm now an Arillas Expert....lol

We did find that we ate and drank more than usual, but ask others about that....

Come rain or shine, we just love to renew all our friendships and make new ones. That is the essence of Arillas. As Terry says, there are no strangers, only friends you have yet to meet. We even welcomed an Arillas local to our house near Glastonbury this year.

You sound like you are becoming Arillas Addicts. From our experience it only takes once!

Paul, We were at Rainbow staying in Dionysis 2  for the same 2 weeks as you!! Week 2 was a wash out -mini tornado at sea and all, but we still had a great time as always. back again 30 September for two weeks, hogging the bar stools!!

Hi,everyone. Thanks for the replies. To Paul and Denise, I do remember you. You were in the next room to us. And, yes, there was a tornado at sea. I`ll never forget it. Luckily it didn`t turn inland. Thanks also to you all for welcoming me to this fab forum. Got a problem tho folks. Heather loves Arillas,but she wants to go to Rome before we head back. So I have to use my charm to persuade her to return in Aug/Sep. I am definitely interested in meeting forum members in resort. If we do book,it looks like being last minute, so it could be any accomodation. Perhaps we`ll tme it for the festival. If we don`t make it this year, we`ll definitely make it next year. Has anyone stayed at Marvelous hotel and what was it like?

We were at our nephews wedding on Saturday and the service was talking about them being best friends as they are lasting and I think that is very true.  So to have a best friend for over 36 years and can still plan holidays without having a row about where you are going is pretty special!  No arguments when it comes to Arillas eh?

I wished we could spend more than two weeks in Arillas but we didnt think we would be able to got at all this year so are so pleased to be able to do 2 weeks at least.  Mikes self employed so although we do have a cat too, finding someone to look after work here for two weeks is hard enough to sort out.

Blonde girl, how right you are in everything you say in your last post. This year is our 38th on the 22nd August. We have known each other for 40 years now (and it don't seem a day to much),that makes us sound really old !! Agree with what you state about holidays in Arillas no arguments  there. Arrive on 8th Sept just before you, so beware the two silly old f##ts charging about on a motor scooter like a pair of demented MODS.

Hi all, what a fantastic web site.... i'm hooked. We are coming to Arillas on the 2nd June for 2 weeks (our first time) and after reading all of your comments and praises we are very excited!! Arillas sounds like just what we are looking for.  We are stayin at  the Makris Apartments and although i gather its a short hike back after a few drinks all other comments seem to be fine.... a walk is always fun when a little bit tipsy!!!

Welcome to the forum! You will love Arillas, take it from us! Before you know it you will have your 'regular visitor' badge and will be giving your own advice! June is a lovely time to go the weather should be lovely and hot.

The Makris isnt that far really, its very nice to walk back to after your meal and have a last nightcap at the bar.  We usually walk around "the circle" back to the Bardis before or after our meal, depending on how fit we are feeling!

So I`ll be looking to sort travel plans for Aug/Sep. As soon as I know, you`ll know. A friend of mine came back last week after his first visit to Arillas and like each of you, found it a wonderful place. He stayed at Kaloudis and would definitely return. I don`t know why,but I am now thinking of the fabulous crepes you can get at Ammos. What are your favourite eating places?

We have eaten there twice this year, and was recognised from last September after only eating there once before.

Agree, Paul. I have travelled all over UK, europe and been to USA about twenty times. Plus a few holidays in france, Ibiza, Majorca etc. But at our age, Jen and me always end up spending our (limited) money on Arillas now. Even a lottery win wouldn't change that.... except we'd never come back here.

Only 9 days to go before our return to arillas. Can't wait I can smell the food and the fresh air already.

For me, I know I've arrived back in heaven when I step out of the plane and the heat, and the mixture of the smell of the diesel fumes and the vegetation hits you!

Does anyone else think it is a problem , that when you have found such a perfect place it makes you hesitate to book for anywhere else . As paul d says the world is a big place .

Angie, I know just what you mean.  I am totally switched off from home and in Greek mode when I get off the plane.  The jacket comes off, the sunnies go on and I am already chilled out... not worried about the long wait at carousel at the airport either.

We know the world is a big place too but I cant be bothered now to hunt around for suitable holiday accommodation, it can be so stressful looking for something and then when you get there it isnt all its made out to be.  We would rather go where we know immediately we feel at home and can relax as soon as we get off the plane.  We did 6 yrs on the trot to Crete now Arillas seems to be going the same way now and we love it there as does everyone else.

I agree with everything BG has said. Just as she and Mike went to Crete, we went to Kefalonia and we did try other places but were really disappointed.

Skala in Kefalonia changed a lot and has become over developed and its awful to see somewhere that you really like become ruined by greed. I don't think that Arillas will ever get like that.

The ideal year for us would be 4 weeks in Arillas, 2 single weeks seeing different places and about 5 city breaks. Just two problems, time and money :-( .

I am looking forward to this year more than ever because it is our second trip to Arillas and now know that we will get two weeks in an Earthly Paradise.

I finished work last night at midnight to day cut the grass, down to the bottle bank, chage the camera batterys and finish off packing tomorow and on Friday drive to Norwich airport for a 16.10 flight Corfu here we come

That is very organised Derek....I caught a flight at midnight so worked till 5pm before driving to the airport, then on the return journey got home at 4am, a few hours kip....then straight into work. I like to maximise my leave....

What a relief, I know that brochures all say that Arillas is a quiet resort, but I was getting worried that it might be too quiet!!!

It's also good to read that people who have obviously been going for a number of years still get excited about going again.

I must say that I am really looking forward to this holiday. I just pick up a good feeling from this forum that this is a going to be a special place to spend two weeks on our hols.

I take it the coconut bar is a regular meeting place ?
