Morning all
I have just seen that the old Captains is opening again as "Athina Taverna" this is good news.  Does anyone know if they will be doing food?
Bring on July!!

Eggy

I meant to have answered that question from Momo.

Athina is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings for food. Obviously a small menu but they put an outside board up showing their special for the evening. Lovely cosy little place and you are well looked after.
We have been there for the Goat Stew and Goat in red wine. Very nice too!

I think they open every other evening, for drinks/meze , but unless something has changed, only full meals at weekends.

Cheers

I don't think I have ever been here. Where is it situated?

That's great news Eggy.
Is it the same family that ran the Captains and do they intend to open through the holiday season?

I am told that it is "Under New Management"

A lot of work has been done there and it is a warm cosy place to spend an evening.

I'm sure it will be open in the Summer.

Hopefully the food wil be as good as the Captains which was one of our favourite tavernas.

It says a local family on the forum main page. Is it someone who already has accommodation or another eatery?

Just had dinner at Athena Taverna (old captains).
OMG suckling pig  was fabulous and the Apple pie with icecream  Mmmmm

Thanks for you review John, we meant to go but too many nice places to eat in arillas now. You need 3 weeks to get round them all!
Interestingly we noticed the octopus tentacles drying in the 'cage' at the front.

Good job you spelt "tentacles" right Karen , as I would be searching for someone speaking in a high voice!!

Athina, in my opinion should be on the short list for all but, as you say , how you get round to all these places?

(Goat Stew and Cuttlefish to die for , in the Winter)

Cheers
