HI ALL

A BIT MORE HISTORY HOLD ON TO YOUR SEATS EXTINCTION YOUR CIGARETTES

1972 The British Caledonian accident at Corfu airport

On 19 / 7 / 1972 a British aircraft of the type "Bac 1-11" and with distinctive "G-AWYS" chartered by Horizon Holidays, was preparing to depart from Corfu airport. The flight had a duration of 2,30 hours. He carried 79 passengers and 6 crew. In Corfu weather conditions were excellent with 24 degrees Celsius.

The aircraft requested a take-off from the control tower, where it was brought. In the acceleration process the plane fell into a puddle with water in the corridor, causing the Governor to think that there was a single engine failure and to cancel the take-off. Then the aircraft reached the edge of the corridor and fell into the waters of Lake Halikiopoulos one meter deep.

Many boats that went directly to the scene of the accident also helped.

Governor of the aircraft was Rex Shilton
Co-commander William Mitchel
1is The flight attendant is MA MacLenann
2h Airborne Harrison
3is Lady Adams

The aircraft was repaired and continued to fly until April of 1988 with the colors of British Caledonian, then sold to Bristish Airways where it flew until 1993.

This plane didn't land on the "naturist" side of Arillas Beach , did it??........ Is it my eyes playing tricks?? -
Looks like one guy is just wearing his shirt and socks!! and.....
...... Not sure how I would feel being approached by that guy in the mid shot.
(In shock after landing - In shock at being rescued)
