i hired a fiat punto from arillas rent a car for 273 euros for 1 week, fully insured, only the tyres and underbody aren't covered, with second driver free,as for the roads i found then too difficult to drive on i was too nervous of the very narow country roads,my friends wife ended up doing most of the driving, once on the main roads they aren't too bad ,and are a bit wider.

If you are used to only driving in towns and on motorways,
I think you will find the roads in Corfu a bit narrow. We have
hired cars almost every time we've been there and my hubby
quite enjoys the driving there. Some of the roads are narrow,
but as long as you are careful, it will be fine. Try it, you may
   like it.

Returned to Corfu after 25 years (frightening thought) and not sure the roads have changed at all!

19 year old  recently passed test daughter was directing and thought we were lost as we should have been on main road - only problem was we were!!

For the most part was bit like being on a theme park ride.

Only saw 2 options in Arilas.  Went for one on same side of road as Malibu/Coconut as said fully inclusive insurance.

No problems at all and very reasonable rates (?£95 for 3 days but would need to check credit card bill)

Had great fun and would def do again.

Hi
Just got back yesterday. Hired a Punto for 5 days (19-23/09/06) for 135 Euros then added extra day for 30 Euros. Delivered on the dot 9am to the apartment and collected with no hassle. Could not have been more helpfull and well recommended. ( no I am not on commission )
The guys name is Valantis and you should get him at explore@otenet.gr
No real problem driving there, the accident rate is pretty low, so as long as you remember that you will get there when you get there, however long it takes, and you left your watch at home you shouldn't have any problems.
Cheers
Eric

Have twice hired car from Theo, who is great! Very helpful and really good cars at good price. Arillas Rent A Car for more info; email address is  info@arillas-rentacar.com  We collected car at airport (dont risk hours delay at transfer!!)  and delivered it back there - in fact Theo took us in his own car all within the car hire price. Great service.
