Advice from Arillas experts please
« on: January 10, 2007, 06:10:20 PM »
My family and brother and sister in law are going to Arillas in May, staying at the Kaloudis. Really looking forward to it.
My daughter (young teen) has just got her very first long evening dress and is desperate to wear it, so I rashly promised we would all get dressed up one night on holiday and go to a restaurant.
Which would be the best one to choose? I do know that things are much more informal, but hopefully not too many people would laugh at us. The rest of the time we shall be our normal scruffy selves.
TIA

Do not worry about what people think, some get dressed up others dont,When are you going as early May tends to get a little chilly in the evenings. If you want somewhere with a sea view then the Horizon or Costas on the beach if open or the place between the Horizon and Costas,i cannot remember the name at the moment, but this maybe the best for your daughter.you would all be made welcome at Brouklis whatever you wore.

Thalassa is the name you are looking for Harold!!

I don't think you'd be laughed at anywhere - that's the great thing about Arillas, you are free to do exactly as you want.  Personally I think Thalassa would be ideal and the food is wonderful.  However, the welcome is always great everywhere, whatever you are wearing!!

I would agree that the Thassalo is a great place for a special evening.    Its great to dress up now and again and what better place to wear your first long dress and have wonderful memories!  Have a great time!

P.s. where I am sitting in my login photo is at the Thassalo, just behind me is a very nice place to take pictures!

Hi there

The Thalassa is a great place to dine.  I have been going to Arilas since 1987 and 2006 was the first year I tried the Arilla Inn.  The food was suberb and so was the service.  This would also be a great place for a special night out.

Thalassa does the most fabulous Prawn Saganaki

I ruined 2 shirts last stay. IT WAS SO WORTH IT!

I long evening dress with a Saganaki stain should be considered a badge of honour!

Sorry about the spelling of Thalassa!  Never been to Arillas Inn, is that the big one on the corner?

I know its not actually in Arillas but you really should check out Mon Amour, I'm probably just biased though.

Arillas Inn is on the beach front between the creperie and Amos'.  The same people own Amos' and Arilla Inn.

I remember it now.  It had polythene or glass windows if I remember rightly with nice candles in bottles. We must give it a try.

Yes it is the one with the candles in the bottles.  Last year was our first time in there and we were made so welcome by Leo.  We are meeting up with some friends in July this year and Arillas Inn will definitely be on our list of tavernas to visit.
