Easyjet London-Athens.

Perhaps this might be of interest for members considering an out of season visit to Corfu.

Easyjet have released the timetable for their flights between London Gatwick & Luton to Athens.  As per usual you have to be quick of the mark as already the prices are rising since they were released yesterday.

Athens-Corfu can be booked through http://www.aegeanair.com/aegeangr/home/index.asp  &  http://www.olympic-airways.com/ (there is a re-direction notice on this site at present)

Aegean Air offer the cheapest flights, but they do have to be booked well in advance for the offers, especially for flights over the festive season.

Be warned...you may find that the connecting flights entail a long wait at Athens airport. :-(

Last year we travelled over on the Special Christmas charter from Gatwick-Corfu.  Doubts have been raised as to whether it will operate this year as the Easter Charter was cancelled.

Thanks for the info Eileen.  We were hoping to spend Christmas in Arillas this year, but having seen the flight prices I'm not so sure!!  I just wish Olympic's website was working so I could look at flights to Corfu, via Athens, with the same airline rather than EasyJet and Olympic on the same journey.  I just checked with Aegean Air and there are no flights to/from Corfu at that time of year.
I'm not giving up the idea just yet!!

Thats a shame Fiona, there were seats available with Aegean when I posted the message on Saturday.  Perhaps they were all booked up by quick off the mark Easyjet passengers!

It's just so expensive no matter which way I plan the journey.  There are budget flights to Venice, but the ferry crossing in a cabin both ways pushes the total price right up.  There are budget flights to Bari and Brindisi which have shorter crossings which don't require a cabin, but it's impossible to get a ferry crossing to coincide with the flights...at least for the dates which we want to travel.

We can fly with the likes of KLM or BA locally from Edinburgh or Newcastle to Athens with a stop-over enroute, but again it's very expensive.

We shall see if there is a special Christmas Charter announced later on this year.

Meanwhile like you I've not given up on the idea just yet and I will keep watching for any alternatives!  Let me know if you have any ideas!
