NEWCASTLE AIRPORT OR GLASGOW AIRPORT
« on: July 11, 2007, 10:50:27 PM »
Hello!

Quite a few of our Arilas clients have asked us to look at getting seats from a more northern airport next year. Most have mentioned Newcastle or Glasgow.

I would appreciate your feedback: would you use any of the two airports above? If so, which one?

I am waiting you see your answers!

I would definitely use Newcastle.  I would use Glasgow also as long as it doesn't cost a lot more.

It's as easy for me to get to Glasgow or Newcastle, so in reality it should not make any difference to me which airport I fly from...but the as Maggie suggests it is usually more expensive to fly from Glasgow so I have got to vote for NEWCASTLE!!!

Friday evening flights would be wonderful too!  Monday-Monday flights means using an extra day's holiday from precious annual holiday allowance.

Nancy - Good point there from Eileen.
I remember, about 2 years ago,Bristol started doing Sunday morning flights. They then stopped abruptly with no reason given. Sunday flights an option with Newcastle?
Would be good for those people who have, for example, an option of working Saturday's as overtime. Get a little extra cash in before you go on Holiday and save a days holiday.
( Maybe Sunday Flights stopped as it became nearly all " Flight Only" passengers )

Sunday flight Neggs?...how wonderful would that be folks?

What a luxury...what a convenience...I'm sure they would be the first flights to sell out.

Both times we used them Eileen it was about an 08:00 flight out and about a 13:00 flight home. Corfu Airport was deserted both times. They cost about £15 each more than the Monday morning flights. - But well worth it.

I'm sure they must have been very popular flights Negg, it does make you wonder why it was stopped?

Yep definitely one for the experts to answer.

Eileen.

We fly from Newcastle & also have to take an extra days holiday  as they are Monday flights. Sunday flights would be great. landing mid afternoon on Monday on return means you hit all traffic on the A1,  the weekend drags before the holiday.

Karen

PS. 25 more sleeps!! & we will be back.

Airlines buy slots at airports to allow them to land, turnround and take-off, all these are at a premium and there are only a limted amount. The better slots, such as the Sunday ones will be bought up by the scheduled carriers as they make more money on the route. Charter airlines fight over what is left, Corfu is an extra pain as arrivals are limited and approaches dfficult.

As for Glasgow or Newcastle I would go with NCL every time. Bright modern airport with easy access, the same cannot be said for GLA. Also punctuality is infinitely better at NCL as they have the facilities to handle the aircraft. Your passengers will be happier with Newcastle.

Slots exeter has 2/3 flights a day apart from flybe so plenty of slots, just had an email back from Nancy Exeter it seems is very expensive, they have now been sold off so hopefully that might make it easier. We get shafted down here no cheap flights and little choice. It would be nice if some other companies came in and offered other destinations
