Dimitris, I hope it is ok to start this "topic" and could you make it a "Sticky please?

This is a Photograph A to Z of our ( the forum members) holiday memories. There are no rules to this except people post one photo at a time with the next letter in the alphabet. This could be a placename, taverna, natural feature, animal etc etc - use your imagination. I wonder how many times we can go through the alphabet?

Kevin - Quote above from Terry who kindly started the thread. Sorry, I have been posting more than one photo at a time. I got so carried away now I know how to do it. Lol.

So we are on one photo per person  at a time and in alphabetical order. I think we are now on C - on your marks, go!

Hi All

C FOR CACTUS

Prickly pear cactus has been a staple of the Mexican and Central American diet for thousands of years. In parts of the U.S. it has been gaining popularity as an exotic, gourmet and healthy addition to one's diet. The prickly pear plant has three different edible sections: the pad of the cactus (nopal), which can be treated like a vegetable, the petals of the flowers, which can be added to salads, and the pear (tuna), which can be treated like a fruit. They grow wild throughout the American southwest, down to South America and up to Canada. The ones you may find at a local store or farmers market will surely originate from a commercial nopal farm.
