Old PERITHIA is fascinating.  It is on the side of Pantocrator - a mountain village - and it seems the inhabitants found it just too far from civilisation and gradually drifted down to the village, also called Perithia nearer the coast and main road.  This all happened in fairly recent times as many of the houses have electric wiring on the walls.
There are a few tavernas (I think four) operating and serving decent refreshments and meals.
There are about eight churches, but when I went with Heather & Paul Diamond they were all locked up.  Many of the houses can be explored though.  I enjoyed collecting ripe walnuts and eating a few figs left to grow wild.

To my mind well worth setting a day aside to visit.

Is Old  Perithia far from Arillias and is it easy to get there? We've never been but heard lots of good things about the place.
Looks fascinating!

Dear Suzy - It's 20.5 miles from Arillas and can be done in a small car even though the road is a bit rough going up the mountain.  It you search for "Arillas to Perithia Directions, Kerkyra" on Google or Bing you will get a map and directions.
Best wishes
Pat

And whilst in Old Perithia, don't overlook the Foros taverna - it was in a Rick Stein TV program and they have a picture of the man outside it.  Very good food but doesn't start serving til after 1300.  It's not the biggest and certainly not the flashest but once you've had the dolmades with their lemon sauce......................
