I heard on the tv last week that in the Uk we have about 152 days of rain a year... 6 months of it! 3 months of cold and windy and then if we are fortunate about 3 months dry and sort of sunny.  Our summers are getting shorter and shorter and the winters longer and wetter.

I wonder how that compares with Corfu...  they dont seem to have the problems with watering the plants... we always see people using hoses in Greece, unlike Uk with a hose pipe ban regardless of how much it has rained or not.
If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

Have just got the mail, and received the book about walks in and around Arillas.  The map which comes with it (separately) is a very good one.  I looked to see if the river had a name on the map - but it doesn't.
Eggy - how is the river looking down between Ina's and the Mirage?  It was a mere trickle when we were there last year, and they put umpteen lorry loads of stone in the bed near the outlet to improve it.
Perhaps when your are getting Horizon pics you could do one of the river too.  The rain should have given it a good flushing.
All the best
PJ

Dimitri's not wrong on his posting "Weather in Corfu" folks.

It's another good day here and, halfway to Arillas, I realised a fleece was something I didn't need and shades were something I did.

This is really "Feel Good" weather and I can feel a buzz in the air. Even at the garage this morning, where a visit always costs money, loads of jovial japes going on.
I have never seen so many smiles in one morning for a long time.

And.... There's a little activity around Arillas now.

There was someone in the Mirage Pool!! - Only cleaning it though.
Horizon being given a facelift in the bar area.
Coconut now talking about re-decorating.
Appts being "spring cleaned" at the Bardis Sun.
A couple of cars outside Portofino but I didn't like to peek in there.
What looks like a hole being dug at Hotel Akti.
And of course Brouklis starting to prepare for an earlier season.

Not forgetting the two people I saw in the sea and, if I could place a bet with William Hill, I'd say within 2 weeks we'll see a roof on the Marina extension.

So. For Terry W, a couple of pics of Horizon.

...

I didn't do the bar area as too many stepladders and paint to do it justice.

Mister Nickos signing out ? Roving reporter ? - Ger on wi yer rubbish.
Cheers
Negg

Arillas Today - As it happens - from your "on the spot" roving reporter.
Possibly a descendant of a Monk around 408 ad.
Possibly not as I have enough habits already!
( See Dimitri's post -"General chat - Eggys Greek name".

News just in.......
"Takis from Amourada waiting for quote, from local barber, to trim his moustache"
"Owner distraught as small rockslide on naturist beach buries returnable amstel bottle"
"Dimitris seen taking it easy outside Brouklis and watching world go by"

Hmmmmm. - not sure I'm cut out for this job !

However -
A very warm 15 deg in the shade and someone, yet again, in the sea.

Not long now for that roof on Hotel Marina .....

And, for those of you staying at Angelas or Villa Maria just to show you how close the Galinni Appts, with swimming pool, are.

Left hand side is Galinni and right is Angelas. Villa Maria is tucked just behind Angelas only slightly up the hill.

Finally. Goings on at the Arillas Inn.
Closed last year but have they plans for this year? Saw, what I think were, 2 couples having a look round with, who I think is the owner, plus man with camera taking a few pics. - Draw your own conclusions on this one.
( Is this my first scoop as a roving reporter?)

Cheers All
Negg
