Checking 3 hours for security reason they say,is this the real reason or is it so you spend more in the Airport.Manchester has got greedy by banning cars from the roads we pay for in front of the airport and making you use the car parks.I fly in from Exeter twice a year (good for green house gases) and i would rather walk to the main road the otherside of the carparks so my niece or my father can pick me up.

Not Manchester's fault, blame a certain incident at Glasgow Airport a few months ago, sign of the times I'm afraid. Free drop off and pick up at T2 has just become available again but until the infrastructure is improved at T1 for next summer the car park is your only option.

Very true about the check-in earlier mantra, its does bring trade to the airport.

Also if you do drive to the airport check your insurance policy, most car insurance premiums do not cover you in airport car parks, strange but true.

When it comes to information Joe, you have many gems to share!  The bit about motor insurance not covering airport car parks is very interesting.  Roy and I will be reading the small print very carefully!!

With regard to T2 at Manchester opening for drop off/pickup, we failed to realise that the pickup only happened on the upper floor (departures) and were waiting downstairs at arrivals for half an hour!  The poor guy bringing our car from the car park had searched all three terminals in vain!

Joe look at this link
www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/s/227/227170_airport_parking_revolt.html
This had nothing to do with terrorist attacks at Glasgow.

I know it sounds a bit silly but getting across that road can be rather dangerous with cases an all and our taxi driver told us in September that they were also going to put this forward as a reason. Viv

Manchester has been charging drivers a long time to pick passengers up at Terminal One but dropoff was always free, the problem became compunded when the ability to dropoff was taken away by the Glasgow Attacks. This has now been returned.

You did used to get 15 minutes grace when you came here to pick people up but it was abused (passing tickets on, etc) and was taken away. Once again the inconsiderate few have spoilt it for the rest of us.

Also you can always get picked up at the train station, no charges there just a quick 5 minute walk down the elevated walkway. No parking though only set-down and pick-up.
