Sand in hard-to-reach places!
« on: September 17, 2007, 02:00:03 PM »
Not be appear a stick-in-the-mud, but I have noticed a few posts mentioning that they use the pools to wash sand off their bodies!! Lets show those hard-working locals who clean the pools some respect and use the showers provided eh?

Well said Jo. I thoroughly agree....the state I'm in when I come up from the beach I wouldn't dream of going in the pool. Spiros would kill me at the Rainbow - or at least shout at me! As it is, Joyce grumbles that there is sand all over the apartment even the next morning and she never goes anywhere near the beach!

Yes I have to argree with Jo  - it's a not a very thought either that you could be swimming in a pool with sand from someone else's bits in there with you too!!

Yes I had to laugh at Sandy's comment about Joyce. Me and the kids have to bathe our feet in a washing up bowl before daring to enter our apt!

My spelling and typing are dreadful today - sorry!  Hope I can be forgiven as am still in a 'state' after leaving my daughter at Uni yesterday!  Back on topic, I also disapprove of people who run straight into the pool after they've had a walk, to cool off - get rid of your sweat before going in the pool!

I am afraid that the Germans are far more disciplined, than us Brits, when it comes to having a shower before going into the pool. The shower also helps to reduce the amount of sun cream/oil that gets deposited in the pool.

I must admit that the title of this topic made me chuckle. "Hard to reach places?" Is that why, when around the pool, you see most of the sand on the "bottom"?

So, let's get this right.
A pool is not the place to throw your old toenail clippings then?

I thought you ate yours Eggy - well they are English and not Greek!  Arghh, I know, I'm disgusting!!  Makes you shudder what could be lurking in the pools at least they all keep them spotlessly clean!

Having found myself swimming next to a great t.rd while in the sea I am a little reluctant to use anything but a pool.

I think that should have been in the Beach or Pool thread. Bit of merging going-on here.

Hello again
I seem to have set off some controversy about getting sand in pools.  Sorry about that.  Of course we should all shower before entering swimming pools.  However its still great to get in a pool after a day in salty water down on the beach.

When the family had a holiday in Denmark we visited the pool at Oxbul.  No shoes were allowed in the changing area, and the attendant ensured you showered without your trunks, using the provided shampoo impregnated sponge applied to all areas of the body.  When you'd got your cossie on again and entered the poolside, another attendant ordered me back to shower again, because there was still shampoo in my hair (this was some years ago and I don't seem to have that problem nowadays!)

All the best

You should have tried to be a little bit sociable and introduced yourself. There's no need to call people names before you get to know them.
