I had never felt the need to bare all in the past but a few years ago I had wandered up to that end and just thought, what the hell, I will run into the sea and run out - just to experience being 'at one with nature'.

All I can say is that the feeling of being in that sea with no constraints is wonderful, as is feeling the sun beating down on you afterwards when drying off.

I can never quite understand these types that go supemarket shopping etc in their birthday suit as that, to me, is about exhibitionism just as i strongly believe that there are certain individuals who are there purely as voyeurs.  I just keep myself VERY MUCH to myself and enjoy the solitude with a good book and ipod.  The rest of my family tease me continually about this little pastime but it is one that I look forward to every year!

I agree Jo , altiugh it's fine to go natural on the appropriate part of the beach, I think it is not necessary to walk around shops etc like that. I'll never go "natural" but I respect  and admire those that do I just haven't got the confidence. There is unfortunately a very small minority who's intentions are not purely to feel the freedom of being in the sun and swimming with no swimsuit to get in the way. On my last holiday I saw such an individual, male standing on the beach and not the naturist bit,  standing, how shall I say it without being offensive, but he was deliberately showing himself off. The "state" he was in he should have at least being sitting down!!

The nudie part of the beach really isnt a problem at all. The law of the beach seems to be that the far North end past Splish Splash is for the seasoned skins and the south end past sea breeze is for the odd few people who want to give it a go, but with not too many others around. There was for me nothing better when sick of sitting on a lounger than walking one end of the beach to the other, plodging through the waves, a wonderful 40 minute stroll at a slow pace. Skin, costume, mud, who cares :-)

Hello all,
Well for me it is the highlight of the year.  We have visited Skiathos and found a cracking beach where there are a few people who  go and enjoy the sea naked.  The first year we went to Arillas, this was before Skiathos I went for my first swim when  no one was there about 7pm in the evening.  After that got braver and went down to the part of the beach to the right if you are looking at the sea.  Over the past four years I have really enjoyed the space, time and freedom.  You are not a manager, not dad, not grandad, your yourself with the sea sand and sunshine.

The first year we went, there was an abandoned pedelo just after  the rocks, felt like Tom Hanks in the film Castaway? 2nd. time we went took music on an ipod, listened to some good stuff in the sea danced on the beach (well it was empty)

Now we both take exactly what we want, stay in the places we like, eat where we know it is good and have a super time.

Ariillas, all good, do what you want within reason you will be accepted and respected, just as we all accept and respect all the people in Arillas.

Hope all those going have a great time.

All good Beachbum,  by the way checked today 76 sleeps!

hi,
We have been going to Skiathos for the last three years, specifically for the beach where au naturel is the norm.

We are hoping that Arillas will be as relaxed as Skiathos is.

The whole of Skiathos is accessible via a very good bus service. So even if you are staying at the quiet end of the island it is easy to get into the main town on an evening. The bus service runs every 20 mins until approx midnight.
Our concern is that Arillas may be a bit isolated and we don't really want to hire a car.

Cheers
Dave

I've been really tempted to try it but never had the bottle. My wife and I were going to go Skinny dipping when we went on holiday to Tunisia 14 years ago but the beach was crawling with Police so we didn't try. This was at about midnight as well.

You really don't need any bottle. If you fancy doing it - go for it. I promise nobody at that end of the beach will take a blind bit of notice of you. I am desperately shy and I manage....lol

Hi DronnyDave and Mick-G

Quote
We are hoping that Arillas will be as relaxed as Skiathos is.

Arillas is so laid back it is moreso than me from Glastonbury. And many will tell you how true that is. But there are values to observe. They are just the same as any self respecting naturist would follow. Read this thread to see how some abuse it.

As a lifelong naturist, I can tell you that this is a perfect place to get to a serious naturist beach and enjoy. It is easy to get to, and I have been there more hours than you would wish to know.

But if you walk naked up to the other end just watch out for Dimitris' granny - she will see you off with stick in hand.... There is for those who do not want it and they are entitled to that. Nothing wrong with it either.

Phil

This year has been fantastic....just walk along to the end of the north beach. Some years it has been more difficult when the water has been higher and you have to wade round the rocks, but not so for the last couple of years.

Even with the rocks it was one of the easiest I have ever been to and now, like Sandy says, it is just a stroll along a flat beach. Enjoy - no-one will take a blind bit of notice of you.

I reckon 'Naturism in Arillas' will be googled by the world's naturists and next thing they'll be doing their shopping, going to the ATM and sitting in Brouklis!!!!!!

It's one thing going swimming in the buff but I don't fancy sitting down for a meal like that. Imagine if you dropped you flaming village sausage into your lap? Could be quite painfull :-0
