Hi Tracey,

We are going on the 24th June, when are you going?.  Although we usually take 3 weeks in seperate holidays, mostly June & September, this will be the first time we have been able  to take the 3 weeks at the one time. :D  We are really looking forward to having more time to chill out and relax.

Paul,

As you can see I've answered your question re-dates above!  If we chose a package deal it would have been far too expensive, so it is flight only and accomodation seperate.  Mind you the prices that were quoted on another part of the forum booking with Going Places were very good for 3 weeks in late September, but I have not looked at the prices for June.  Out of curiosity I must have a little nosey into the website later on today. :)

I'm looking forward to hearing all your news. :D

Paul,

I had a look at the Going Places website and did a couple of costings based on 2 adults for 21 nights departing Monday 20th June (looks like monday is the only flying day for them) at the Galini Studios travelling with Manos.

From Manchester the total price is £780 and Newcastle £780, I only entered these 2 airports as I'm familiar with the prices from them.  Considering that it is named accomodation I don't think these prices are bad at all. :D

Also, there were lots of apts to choose from I just picked these out as they were the least expensive.

I took a look at their flight only prices, but Excel are cheaper on that score.

I'm glad I checked these out as I will look at Going Places website next time I go.

Hi Eileen

With regard to your question - we are booked for 2 weeks starting 9 September, however we also want to try and get a week out in May/June, but its dependant on when my hubby Peter decides on a date to have his knee operated on, the specialist wants to do it asap, but we are booked for 2 weeks skiing in USA at the end of Feb and Peter has said no way is he putting that at risk so he will have it done when we return, so I have suggested that the gets it done May/June and then we can get an extra week away whilst he has R&R!!  and Arillas is just the place to do that dont you think?

Hmmmmm, these posts have given me an idea - when I drive over in May, I will spend my week with a cardboard "TAXI" sign on top of my old Vauxhall Astra and hire myself out for cut-price airport transfers.  If I charged 35 euros a time, I could probably make enough to pay for the whole trip.  I could even have Lucy in the back as a real-life nodding dog!!

Sorry, did I hear someone say something about having to have a licence?  Oh well, back to the drawing board (or is it the beach?)!

Hi' Tracey,

I think that it sounds like you are a very greedy person...just like me    2 weeks in the USA, 1 week in Arillas (purely medical reasons of course!) and then back to Arillas for 2 weeks in September.

You have a lot to look forward to, it's just a pity for Peter and his knee, you will probably need a week in Arillas just for yourself to recuperate after running around after him

Eileenx

Stuart,

  It would be even better if you and Lil' Lucy flew back (or hitched!) and you could leave your car for us all to use  :D

Hi Tracey & Peter,
I think I read it right ,that Peter is waiting for knee op ? but your going
skiing first !!! hope he doesn't do more damage!! I think i would have the op first and then 4 weeks in Arillas recouping ?? only cause I'm not keen on snow.
Anyway all the best with everything and have a good time, we might see you in Arillas as we go twice a year, and make sure you go to Dimitris at the Brouklis Taverna so he can take a photo for the Forum ?

Hi Paul/Deb

Yes thats right ski first knee later, the fact is Peter should have had it done Dec time, but he knew then it would screw this years skiing up and that would never do!! so he has a view he may as well screw it up completely and then have the op when he comes back with it in a state, then he gets to ski for 2 weeks in Colorado and then if we time it right and have the op early May we can do R&R in Arillas as an extra holiday - so you see there is a method in my madness.  I will take care of him whilst away and make sure he doesnt do anything too stupid - like a black run.

When are you off to Arillas Paul?

Hi Tracy & Peter

He must be keen ?? but the thing is ,not to screw it up to much in case
you do more harm!! but then of course there is travel ins !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We usually get out there by end of May and Oct. but with the girls schooling it gets more difficult each year, this year with exams we won't
be able to go until begining of July !!! which is a much longer wait, but it will be good as we have never been out in that month, and it will be longer than 2 weeks thats for sure.
speak soon.

I agree with the average price being 30 euros. The best thing you can do is get in touch with where you are staying and ask them to book it for you.I always do this and it works out cheaper!

Thanks for that Harold!!!! My plan this year is to book flight and accommodation seperate, my only problem with that is i will have to spend time on my own with someone i don't know "The Taxi Driver" and the thought of feeling like i should be on the Brands Hatch Circuit really dosen't appeal....... lets hope i don't get the same driver you had

Just do what a friend of mine used to do.  Sit right behind the driver and, everytime he starts to go a bit too fast for your liking, tap him smartly on the shoulder and say "Siga Siga megale, thelo na ftaso simera, ochi hthes", which means "Slow down lad, I want to arrive today not yesterday".

After doing that a couple of times, they usually get the message.

Or, you could just make sure you have had a nice half bottle of wine on the plane - that way, you'll not be drunk, but you will probably be less bothered,   8)
