I don't really like to post these things because some of you don't like flying. Anyway i will. We landed on the runway with a thud and the plane continued down it at what seemed like a million miles an hour for what seemed ages. :( everyone was looking at each other. I looked at the cabin crew and they all seemed to be looking as though this isn't right. I remember thinking this is a short runway when all of a sudden the plane started to come to a very quick slow down. You could see the relief on everybodies faces. It's a good thing we new we was on our way to Arillas. :)

Anyone else had a bad one ?

Cor Riggers - that sounds a bit unpleasant.
I really enjoy flying but Christian hates it! Mind you, from what you're describing I can't say we'd both have been overjoyed to have had that kind of 'splash down' into Corfu - sounds a bit hairy!

At least ya made it safe & sound :-)

Yes only a one off Becky i hope. The rest of the holiday made up for it though. Must get posting about that. phew Wine festivals etc.   :)  :D

Yes, this time we had a bit of a scary landing  thid time, we hit the runway and the plane seem bounced along the runway a bit too much for my liking, I though we were going to end up in the sea. But the worst one was a couple of years ago coming back from Corfu and the landing at Newcaslte Airport, we had landed very smoothly, taxied along the runway and then sudenly the plane started, lurching all over the place, the panic was written all over peoples faces, I was  a bit more vocal, but thankfully we are here to tell the tale. I hate flying and think of it only as means to get from England to Corfu.

When I returned back from Corfu earlier this month, I was seated  in the back of the plane with a motley crew Kavos survivors who actually behaved very well because they were knackered after partying the week with Phikl's liver. But landing to Gatwick was a scary business. Captain Dave of Monarch had to fly the plane the plane through a storm cloud wobbling along and then we came down with thump on the runway and I nearly had a whiplash on the impact. Luckily being in the Nut until 05.30 that morning with Phil and Jen had me tired and relaxed enough not to panic. But there were few worried faces around me.
Life is good ;)

Well Erja....that is certainly a novel reason for staying in the bar till 5.30am!!!

Wasn't there one where the Pilot told the passengers they were low on fuel. Then he strapped on a parachute and said he was going ahead to organise some?

Lol Eggy, trust you!!!!!!

I have only landed at Corfu Airport twice (alas), but I filmed the second one and you can really see how hard the plane "hits" the runway.

I just watched your video Terry - & yes, it was quite a bump wasn't it?
It was funny when the stewardess mentioned the temperature outside & everyone went 'woooo' - that made me smile.

I heard, that to fly into Corfu the pilot has to have certain specialist qualifications as the runway is so short.
Am I correct in thinking this?

A long time ago I went on my first holiday abroad to Athens.
I'd never flown before and don't mind admitting I was terrified.
Anyway I was a bag of nerves all the way over to Greece and enjoyed a great 2 week's holiday.
Then it was the dreaded flight home.
So me and Susan are in Athens airport and she's whispering to another couple and I just caught the word "crash" !
So I pulled her over and asked what she was talking about "crash" for.
So she explained that there had been a crash at that very airport an hour ago but no one had been killed and it wasn't that serious.
That was it !
I was trying to think of alternative ways of getting home ,train , bus ,boat , anything.
Just then some double door's crashed open and 2 paramedics come flying through with a poor guy on a trolley stretcher covered from head to foot in bandages !
All the way back over on the flight I swear I was so rigid you could have struck matches on my face !
Anyway now many years later it doesn't bother me one iota and I wonder what I was worried about.
Old age I guess !
Hope I don't burn !
