Just before we left to come home one of the shop units was taking delivery of it's stock.  It looked as if it could be some kind of hardware store.

Sandy we went into the Hericles for a quick reco' and drink on our way back from Brettas but ended up staying for hours...yes a very good local for us!

Well all I can say is I must walk round with my eye's closed, as I didn't notice the writting saying that it was going to be a language school. I had heard like bloned girl that it was going to a beauty salon, but hardware sounds as if it would be a great thing for the locals including you lucky ex pats.
Didnt get to go in Heracles but if it attracts that clientle im on my way. Coming Sandy lol. Viv

Hi Dave and Anne,

You can find it here... http://arillasmap.awardspace.com/arillas_googlemap.php  Go to the top left of the map and 'select and item'  scroll down to Hericles and it will show you the location.

Hi JustL@@Kin!

I knew there was a link somewhere which had a code to take you right there...but I couldn't remember how to find it. Silly ol' moo! ;-)

Eileenx

P.S. I'm glad I took a second look at the map because I have spotted at long last the location of Villa Monaxia. I always wondered where it was when I saw the link on Dimitris's accom' page. What a pretty location.

Eileen, Yeh Villa Monaxia is in a pretty location,
couldn't fit it on the tourist MAP :(
The 'back' road that goes from there to Mon Amour
is a journey and a half on a scooter, with passenger :)
but worth doing for the scenic countryside.
A concrete/tarmac/gravel road that goes up and down and is
hemmed in with trees and bushes beautiful and fun.

You get the link code from the details tab, "send page link via email"
or images tab 'chain link image' to the left of item name.

I am not sure if Mon Amour is shown in the right location?.
It is off the map I think but it does show the the right direction to travel.

Poor little scooter JL, but  your right it's all fun and part of the holiday buzz.

Neill and Wendy were telling us only last week about the track down from behind Mon Amour. Yet another thing added to our 'things to do list'.  It's amazing just how much we have yet to discover around and about Arillas. :-)

It looks as though Mon Amour is in the right location...I'm sure Neill will be able to confirm it...but heck what does it matter as long as it's in the right direction. ;-)

Agious Spiridon.
Past Acharavi and before Kassiopi. One place that is worth a visit if you have transport.
( Although Paul n Maria might attempt to walk it! )

There are two left turnings that reach the beach. The first turning takes you past this lovely Church. This is where they hold their festivals.

Take a trip down to the beach and, turn right by the sign to "Molos Bar" and it brings you to the quieter side of the beach.

Lovely little places here to explore or just take it easy.

I think this property is rented out during the summer, but I may be wrong.

The "other side" of the beach is just as quiet and you can walk, past the fish farm, to Acharavi. ( If the mood takes you, that is )

There is another little church just on the beach if you feel the need to sing a few psalms as a break from "skin darkening"

Ans.....can anyone see Albania in this pic?

We could all be forgiven for thinking this was Arillas, 15 years ago, but that little dream is slightly spoiled by the large complex overlooking the bay.

It's an all inclusive place so, the good news is that, the beach is never too crowded as most guests never wander too far from the pools. The bad news is that it brings very little trade in for the few Tavernas here. But it can also be argued that it employs many people during the summer. ( Swings n Roundabouts maybe )

I think Agious Spiridon is a good place to be for a day out and don't forget to try the "Karbouris" Taverna.
( Situated just down from the 2nd turning off the main road )
They also have a free swimmimg pool where you can take a dip while food is being prepared or, perish the thought, in between Ouzos.

Worth a note in next years "Things to do"
( Thanks to Wegg for working the camera )
Cheers
Negg

Fantastic report Eggy. Have seen property advertised there. Such a beautiful place. Ruined by All Inclusive? Weggs lovely pics show it is not.

To me, all inclusive means that apart from the greasy fry-up breakfast you get a few generic ice creams and limited choices of drink, and you just pay more. I don't believe it will destroy NW Corfu. Especially when money is tight.

riggers - are you driving?? I know Iwon't be...

Egy - we have Karbouris on our long list...

I see Kevin has mentioned Night Owl and would agree that this is a lovely place to sit and......................... just enjoy.
( Easily walked ... For most people.... For me, I leave it to the Pug to get me there )

They now have a new addition to the inside seating area.

Just remember to duck occassionally.

Cheers
