Well my skin emits a pretty nasty smell anyway - especially after a really hot curry :-) lol
Great tip thanks Jo - I'll be taking some of those before my next visit!

For those of you who like a gin and tonic, you may be in luck. Apparently the quinine in the tonic puts the little blighters off. Sadly, I don't think vodka and orange has the same effect.....

How strange how some of us are attacked by the blighters and some are overlooked...I came home looking like a dot to dot..and Chris hardly ever gets a bite although I am one the than applies Deet religously and sprays it all around the room. Odd thing, where we live are loads of dykes and rivers..lots of mozzies, yet never get bitten here...having read the last post..re the tonic that goes with gin detering them..could well provide the answer..I always drink G&T at home but never in Arillas, always wine there...hhmm may have to take a whole different Arillas approach to the mozzies....will have to implement the Bombay Sapphire repellent?!!x

Sandy - Phil says the Vodka works for him. He drinks it, as quickly as possible, and then uses the empty bottle as a swatter.
(It's a dirty job but someone gotta do it!)

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it , but mozzies are about during the day, as well as trying to ruin your evening enjoyment.
Wegg was bitten this morning, when doing her gardening chores.

Like the tonic advice and will give it a go. Wonder what ouzo and tonic is like? Why wonder? Away to pour one now! Mo x

A tip for the ladies here.

Before your partner takes you out for that romantic evening meal , make a necklace of pickled onions and put in on with pride.
Spray your legs with WD40 and smear bovril all over your face.
It's guaranteed that you will not be bitten away from your appt that evening.
(Probably because you won't be going out)
There is now way your partner will want to be seen with you looking like that!

Or... try the jungle formula .... This works quite well when we spray it on before morning gardening duties. (WD40 is OK if you are bald)

Cheers

If you do get troubled by mozzies take one of those clickers you can buy from chemists and supermarkets for about £3 they take the itch away in an instant, and you can use it all the time as they are not medicinal, also very safe for children.
I keep one in each of my bags so that I always have one with me.

Sal always sprays us both with Eau De Deet jungle formula at least 50% deet sprays the room with Raid ...On returning to the room turns the air con down to 16C I freeze my nuts off but so do the mozzies.
Seems to work.

Exactly what I do AJC51 ;) Bill thinks he will either expire from poisoning or or freeze to death.

Arillaslad

This is yet another crafty ploy by the mozzies. They lull you into a false sense of security whilst noting they have left you alone for 24 months. Assuming that you could have been bitten 6 times, each week, they will very soon have their calculator out.
( 6 times a week x 2 years = 624 bites plus interest )

I hope I am not around when they recall this debt to be paid in full.

Be afraid - They will make jaws look like a goldfish!
 - WOTTEMIONABOUT??

Dread to think what my debt must be - I have never been bitten in all the months I have spent there. Famous last woorrrddds.... Apparently some people are lucky like you and I Arillaslad.

On the other hand, those who do get bitten sometimes have terrible reactions to them. Jen included. It's no joke for them - they can never let the guard down. Our key holiday packing is masses of spray with 50% DEET - all for Jen. It goes on in the afternoon and is added to if we have a late night (most of them!)
