is the beach gonna be good this year

well looking on the web-cam the beach to the left of the pier near arillas watersports is looking good ,,hope the nth side is getting wider ,,any news anyone ??

The beach is good every year Kev wide or narrow just love being on it and in the sea in the heat of the afternoon followed by a couple of mythos and a siesta

This webcam shot gives some indication of the beach at the moment.
Looks like the middle from the Jetty towards Kaloudis is a little wider than last year, but is looks like the sea is breaking over the sand and making a large pool. The far north end looks good but it may be that you have to do a little wading to get there. and are those Rocks streatching into the sea by the kaloudis steps

John, I have a feeling that the new breakwater built of rocks by Kaloudis is causing the sand spit which is making the lagoon, hope that as the weather and wind alter in the next few days the sea water will drain away.

It will begin to make that side of the beach useless for sun beds otherwise. Nature is a strange thing and something that us mere mortals can't alter.

There was a smaller version of that lagoon last year in July following some windy weather but it dried up in the calm that followed.  If it stays but in a smaller form it would be lovely for babies paddling.

Yes a little lagoon would be great for the children (see Sara's post 'Beach Clean Up)
But, the income from the sun beds would be lost, this could cost someone their livelihood.

The pool last year was enjoyed by many children big and small.... I had a paddle through it myself. It was really warm.

Ok......having cleaned all my kitchen cupboards, I allowed myself an excursion to the south beach this afternoon. Can't do pictures I'm afraid as my camera card doesn't fit into this tablet.....
The good news is there are new/improved steps to the beach at Graziella. There is then a good sandy stretch....not as big as last year, but I am confident it will improve in the coming weeks.
Beyond that, it is not so good at present. No real beach, lots of rocks and quite a bit has fallen from the cliffs over the winter. Access to the sea at the far end was dodgy......BUT the sea is glorious....warm already. Plenty of time for the sand to come back....
Will report on the north end in next few days...
Opening day at Anemos tomorrow....
