Sunbeds on beach.
« on: June 03, 2013, 12:59:36 PM »
I've just read that there aren't yet any sun beds on the beach.

Is this true?  If so, does anyone know why?

Eileen.

Yes it's true  but don't know why did hear something about a licence but don't know for sure. We are here at the moment enjoying the sunshine at Kaloudis after the rain yesterday.

Thanks for confirming this Springs65.

Now into June and no sun beds on the beach...what an absolutely ridiculous state of affairs for a seaside holiday destination...hardly encouraging for visitors.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday...sunshine at the Kaloudis sounds perfect :-)

Eileen.

I am disappointed too I like the beach when it's hot, much cooler down there. I have mobility problems and can't get up a d down on a mat so think we will use some of the pools down there on the beach.

Oh, not good news. Airbeds are OK for a while but do cause excessive perspiration! Are there any brolleys?

There were a few about but it was windy the whole time I was there and there were not many people on the beach at all.
Poor pedalo guy was very down when I spoke to him on the beach and he was just waiting for the weather to change. I saw all of his pedaloes still at his house when I went with my daughter to give his dog a good fuss :-(

We came home just a week ago and there were sunbeds on the south beach under the Graziella and what was the Sea Breeze (I think). They did have to be moved because of high seas but am sure they weren't a mirage, that is just down the road and wonderful!!

We left "home " on 27th May. Apparently just waiting for his permit to operate this year and was afraid to operate without, the few at south end was all he would risk, should be sorted anytime soon but as we all know you can't rush the Greek authorities!!

Still here enjoying the lovely sunshine. Was talking to someone the other night who was saying the plan was to allocate a bit of the beach to each of the businesses along the front where they would each have to get a licence to then put sunbeds out.
As we know in Greece they don't hurry themselves to do anything so may take some time
now I don't know how far all this is true just relating back what I heard

If this is the case I feel so sorry for the guy who was doing it before, lost his livelihood just like that.

Hot and sunny again today but just a little breeze

We enjoy a couple of hours on a sunbed most days and I love to swim in the sea as well as a dip in the pool. As first visitors to Arillas(next month) we can definitely say that had we known there would be no sun beds, we would not have booked Arillas but would have gone to Sans Stephanos. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED

Well said hampshirehawker. No sreeetlights, no sunbeds. Are the powers-that-be taking leave of their senses?

Don't worry though. I'll bet your post has had its desired effect, and you'll get to be on sunbeds. Personally, I prefer the sand.
