Makris Apartments

Anyone have any info on the Makris Apartments?
I have read so many great things about other apartments in Arillas but very rarely this one. I'm so looking forward to going but it does worry me slightly that this place is barely ever mentioned?!
Someone please put my mind at ease!

Rachel

Nothing to worry about on the Makris front. Good location, nice pool and bar and good people. Eileen (Villa Linakis) has stayed there in the past so that in itself is a good recommendation

Makris is lovely.....we enjoyed two weeks there, the family are great, and the pool is beautiful, lots of sun beds, pool table, nice bar with good food and the home made wine is delicious,.
You will have a super holiday, the rooms all have a separate kitchen which is a big bonus in Greece it makes the apartment feel so much bigger.
The only down side is it's 10mins walk to the front which seems longer after a good night in one of the bars ;)

The love affair continues.

That's great to hear :-)

I don't think i was worried about anything in particular, (except for not being able to have my 7am swim!) as all the photo's i've seen and the comments & reviews etc have all been great. It was just that i hadn't seen much info that was recent.
I was in touch them a day after booking back in May about requesting a particular room and they were very efficient with their reply and were most helpful, so that was a big plus with me.

Oh no Val, i just spotted the words 'pool table' - I hope it's not outside my room like it was on last years holiday in Kefalos!
I was dreaming about the damn thing for a month after i got back! lol (long story! haha)
I don't mind the 10min walk either,  i tend to choose places that are a little out of the way hoping that they're not as busy. And a walking at night is not usually an issue when i'm travelling alone as i tend not to be out at night.
That's the only restriction i find that i have when holidaying alone, i'm not keen on the thought of walking back to/from somewhere alone in the dark.
If i'm already out somewhere, i usually make sure i'm back while it's still fairly light.

I took the risk of walking back alone from a club in Kardamena a couple of years ago - let me just say.. I won't be doing that again!! :-o

Rachel, although the road from the sea-front to the Makris does not have many lights there is always light from other buildings so it is not really that dark. A torch might be handy, but not what I would call totally necessary. It may be a 10 minute walk, but that's at a slow pace, a young and healthy person like you will probably do it much quicker. But above all, do not be frightened to walk back there late at night on your own, Arillas is a very safe resort which is not frequented by the kind of tourist that would bother you when walking alone. So don't miss out on some of the later evening entertainment at places like the Coconut (other bars are available!) just because you are worried about the walk back to your apartment. If you do get really worried then speak to one of the bar owners, they will find an escort for you - that's the kind of people they are in Arillas.
Relax, you are going to a really great place.!!

Hi Geoff,
Thanks for your reply. Sounds like i really have picked a wonderful place to visit this summer. Hearing such nice things from everyone on here is  definitely making me feel more welcome and more comfortable about travelling alone.
I have always been cautious about walking home alone at no matter where i am, but more so when on holiday. I guess i'll just wait till i get there and see how i feel!

Hello Rachel,
Re. walking back to your apartments after an evening out.

Don't worry about it as there are usually other folk walking the same route and you'll start up a conversation and probably have a drink with them sometime during your stay.
My husband insists on taking our scooter down to the local tavernas but I insist on walking back, so he rides the scooter and I amble up the hill to Anna's (having a little rest at the pastry shop). I have never once felt afraid or concerned in any way. It's usually after 11pm when I'm walking and the Arillas sky is beautiful at night.
Relax and enjoy.

Rachel

You will be fine, walking back, but.... watch out for an Eggy hiding in the bushes.
He will jump out at you and then - perish the thought ----------
TRY AND SELL YOU A SET OF DARTS!!!!

What could be worse than that???

You could bump into other Arilliacs who want to talk you senseless about how wonderful life is here.... Guilty as charged m'lud. The walk to Makris is not  problem.

BE AWARE of some chap who may cause you concern, goes by the name of EGGY A well known face around Arillas, all he is interested in is throwing three pointed sticks at a board. Should you come across him run for the hills and don't look back, should you fail, be prepared to stand at the hockey for endless hours humouring him....DONT let him drink the ouzo....you could be there all day.

See you September Neil.......  I know where you will be

Thanks HH, with each comment, i'm feeling more and more relaxed about it now. Once i'm there, i'll know i needn't have had any worries in the first place.

No worries Negg, i'll lead him into a false sense of security by buying some darts... then i'll throw them at him.. lol (just kidding, of course i'd never do anything like that! haha)

John.. I can't promise anything - where ouzo is concerned, i'm happy to be there all day! lol
