Kaloudis Apartments
« on: August 05, 2013, 01:07:51 PM »
I notice next year with Thomsons for Kaloudis it is marked:
■3T Favourites until Nov 13
■Small & Friendly from May 14

Have they been downgraded in some way?  Anyone know?

Hi,

I had a look on the Thompson web site and it looks like they are changing things slightly, but think the 3T will still apply in 2014, just changing the way you can search for your ideal type of occomodation.

Having stayed at Kaloudis for about 4 years on the trot, and with great customer reviews, the service or accomodation will not be anything less than fantastic.

Ironically in about 4 days I will be back there again... :)

Enjoy Martin - we certainly did 3 years ago, have since done the Akti and this year Bardis Sun Studios - I like to get around!

Haven't been disappointed yet. A must for me is aircon - is it right that Brouklis accommodation doesn't have any?  Are there any other studios/apartments that don't have the aircon option?

Thanks all in advance..... just thinking of next year!

We have just booked to stay at the Kaloudis Village next August 2014.We are a family of 4 with two teenage boys who will be 16 & 15. I am hoping that the Kaloudis Village and Arillas we be a suitable location.
We like to be on the beach in a resort that is small enough to perhaps give the boys a little freedom and has a choice of greek restaurants and bars. Ideally the bars would have a pool table to keep the boys amused. We would hate to be anywhere like Sidari or Kavos.
Previously we have stayed in Alykanas in Zante and Pefkos in Rhodes so I am hoping that Arillas is similar to those resorts. We was planning on going to Pefkos next year and had actually booked it, but Thomas Cook have pulled out of the accommodation and was unable to offer a suitable alternative. So we cancelled and have now decided to try somewhere new :))
Any advice, have we done the right thing?

Oh yes. From what you say you have done exactly the right thing. Based on this year, the beach is at its very sandy best from the Jetty to Kaloudis. Arillas is defintely small and friendly enough for your lads to roam in safety. There is a pool table in the Coconut Bar (and not sure but may be another at Mailbu next door.) There is one at Kaloudis as well. And OMG is it NOT Kavos!

Kaloudis has a wonderful pool but you can use many others if you eat or drink there. Many like Mirage, but Sharon's pool bar specialises in this. Read the reports on Tripadvisor. There is a huge choice of excellent tavernas and restaurants, with some of the finest Greek and Corfiot food you can get, and all incredibly good value for money.

Many who like Pefkos love Arillas. I feel sure that you will too.

Phil

Hi,

we took our to lads at the same age as yours are and they loved it!

We stayed at the Rainbow on that occasion and they played pool and darts there daily. They also played hours of pool in the Malibu.

Arillas is a small village and very safe so we just gave them a daily allowance of Euro's and let them free to do as they wished - never worrying about them once!

They preferred the larger beach at San Stef and would walk over the hill to it each day to play football and bat and ball on their own - again we never worried that they would get into any danger or trouble. They also found a basketball hoop and spent hours slam dunking lol!

Had it been anywhere else I don't think we would have been happy to let them off the reins so to speak so if you feel its time to give them a bit of freedom, then yes, this is the perfect place to do it without fear and they will thank you for not cramping their teenage style lol - it's just not cool to be with parents all day at that age apparently ha ha!

We like to sit down and have a 2 or 3 course meal of traditional greek food on an evening but again, some nights they wanted fast food so to speak and went off and bought a gyros leaving us old folks doing the formal thing!

So yes, in my opinion, it's going to be just fine.

Hi, kaloudis will offer everything you describe, small, friendly, safe, great pool, 50 yards from the beach, shop, bar, pool and darts and so much more... If you want table tennis then Acti hotel has a table, that's about 5 min walk away with many other gaming option inc water sports, canoes etc on the sea front. Theses even a play centre for the smaller children at Mirage also on the front.

But nothing can really prepare you for just how warm and welcoming, chilled and relaxing Arillas is..

We had friends staying in Sidari this year, we brought them over to Arillas for the night and were amazed at how different and relaxed the place is.

Have a great time and enjoy!

Sorry another question, does the Kaloudis have a bar that is open in the evening or any evening entertainment. Sometimes its nice to go have a meal then return to the apartments bar and get to know other guests and staff.

Thanks Phil just read the reviews for Sharon's Pool Bar it sounds lovely will definately be giving the sunlounger's in the pool a try:)

Thanks Bella And Martin you've definately put my mind a rest regarding the boys, sound like there's plenty to keep them busy.

Hate to wish my life away, but roll on next year:)

Yes, Kaloudis has a quiz every week with a top prize of a free week there, and I think some other parties, bbqs etc. The experts (many forum folk only ever stay there) will fill you in. We last stayed in late October 2007, but always visit in the summer and have done several quizzes over the years. Both Billys always welcome us so warmly.

They have a very lively bar, and much socialising is usually in evidence towards the ends of days.

Welcome to your life sentence. There is no escaping once the bug has gotcha. The forum is a sort of group therapy. You begin to realise that a few are even more obsessed than you are. I wouldn't want a "cure" though. Arillas has delivered 10+ years of joy to my door.

Hi J! What you have asked for in your original post is exactly what is on offer in Arillas. The first year we came to Arillas (1995) we stayed at Kaloudis. We thought we had died and gone to heaven! That 1 year old boy we took is now 18 and he also has 14 year old twin brothers now.  They love Arillas and it is the only place I would let them have the freedom to wander and how great is it to be able to let them do that? Admittedly this is my eldest's last hol with us for a while as women and busier bars have intervined but my 14 year olds were asked if they still wanted to return next year and it was a resounding yes! They love the pool and beach and enjoy the Akti table tennis. When we are in the Coconut at night they tend to go next door to the busier (and younger crowd) Malibu and flit back and forth all eve. The food is sublime and typically Greek. Let us know what you think! Oh, and welcome to Arillas.com!!

Thank you Jo, good to hear that teenagers enjoy it too. It can be do hard finding somewhere to suit everyone. So looking forward to next year, hopefully they will be a couple of other teenagers around at the same time for them to hook up with. Thanks again

Hi JHardy

We will be there 25th July for 2 weeks with my 16 year old daughter and her friend and as Jo said i fell confident letting them go off for a while by themselves. We are not staying a Kaloudis but the Mathraki. Took my daughter who was 14 last year to Kaloudis and 18 year old son and they both loved it. Asked my daughter if she wanted to try somewhere different next year and like Jo's boys, she said no she wants to go to Arillas. Suits us!!!

I have to apologise for not writing since we left home full of euphoria -yes was Born british - but lived / married to an Austrian - near Innsbruck - big Tourist area!! So we do not say sorry!!!
All I / my Austrian hubbie - (who is actually not so scary ) can say- is that arilass is the best place place in the world - we live in Austria -also very good - spent a lot of time in S.A - nearly bought property there - and although the whole stuff with our Little house in arrillas where we often nearly gave up! and paid a hell of a lot of dosh since 2006!!! has been pretty traumatic we have stuck with it.
This year is the first time we have been here since April - will be leaving on Fri 13 th!!! to go home as our youngest is having twins!
All I can sayto all you Brits who are coming here for maybe the first time- and when you do as we know do not have mega weeks of hols and want of course it to be perfect - we understand that - you have Chosen a super place which as Long as you also commumicate what you need/ want - will give you a great return.
When we go to the Uk - my Mum is 91) still lives alone - we are horriefied how expennsive it is to eat anywhere and how health and safety Kind of takes over everyghing- so you will find the Quality -/ love that goes nto the cooking - - have not even mentioned the wine beer etc!!fantastic - also safety for your Kids - just relax!!
Also on a serious Level the Police are checking the Holiday resortzs more than ever !!
There is a Greek newspaper in english - Comes out every friday Athens Views - so you can see what is Happening - if you are interested - on the greek political horizon

But for now - too much info - for those for whom this is a first time - let loose and enjoy - you can do no wrong and your Kids will be so relaxed!! For the rest
