Corfu island is a wonderful place full of lovely people.  if only the whole world was like Corfu it would be a much better place

Yes there will be a ton of favourites, but for authentic greek in every way I agree with Truth, Vavilas fish restaurant is the one I would say.

I love the Bass at Vavilas fish restaurant and it is as you say very inexpensive but if we are talking Authentic Greek its got to be Brouklis for me, I remember somebody coming in once and asking for a well know English meal and being told very politely to go down the road as they only did Greek meals. Just go in and ask whats what and it will all be explained to you. I was very sceptical our first time there but have liked every Greek meal we have had there for a lot of years now. Viv x

We will probably never try Brouklis, which is a shame, as my Mom is petrified of cats and if we went in there without my Mom the eldest daughter would not leave the cats alone and finish her meal ! lol

I have to agree Vavilas not only for fish but for his greek food.
Also Armourada is a great family run authentic greek restaurant and you will be well looked after. you also have the Graziella for fish and greek food, with tables on the balcony overhanging the beach where you can eat and watch the sun go down.

If you fancy a bit of a walk The Night Owl is really good. Agree with the previous suggestions.

Thats the real problem, just to many good tavernas. We also like the Night Owl and I can trutherly say we have only ever had 1 meal in Arillas that we didnt enjoy and that was years ago. X

You will find that everyone on this forum has their favourite taverna for different reasons, just as we all have different opinions of what is a traditional Greek experience.

I have only once had a really bad meal in Arillas, a problem which was easily resolved.
I stopped self catering and now make sure I eat out every night while I'm there.

Not in any particular order, but for us it would have to be, Brouklis, Effi's, Vavilas and Graziella.

Dai, the only things we keep in the fridge in Arillas is water and milk in case we want to self cater a coffee ;)

Truth know what you mean  cats can be a  problem but plenty of restaurants where they are not a problem.

I love the cats in Brouklis. They make the whole place so homely and welcoming. I know that everyone doesn't feel the same, but Brouklis continues to be the most popular and successful taverna in Arillas. And there are SO many more places to choose. I must have eaten nearly everywhere at some point, and can honestly say we still don't get to all of them in a three week holiday.

Just my view.
Phil
