Independent holiday in october
« on: April 22, 2014, 12:54:17 PM »
Hi all lookibg for a bit of advice, the wife and i have a weeks holiday on the 13/10 we have been together for 20 years and have never had a holiday by ourselves so this year grandparents have offered to have the kids for a week well we have a blissfull week at home, although feeling quilty about leaving them as they also love arillas. I have been looking at prices for that week at it seems that independant is the cheaper option. We have always done package holidays as we usaully come over during the school holidays, so would be grateful for any information on accomadation which can be booked directly

Lots of reviews on the forum, but if you go to the home page and click on Directory in
the menu you will find a list of properties. Everyone wants something different from their holiday, so if you put the name of a property you fancy in the search box on the forum you will get lots of old posts relating to that property.

Happy trawling.  :)

we did independant for the first time last year, it was quite scary!! but it all worked out perfectly, booked flight first with easyjet, then got accomodation, we stayed at marinaki, and dida booked the taxi for us, which was waiting to whisk us to arillas when we arrived at the airport.
there are is accom on booking.com not sure how that works with the owners getting a share of the money, but it might work out better for you to pay from here etc, that was the only problem we had, actually paying a deposit! in the end dida trusted us to pay the whole amount when we arrived.
hope it works out for you, send me a pm if you want anymore info.

We used to go package we when the children were young as it was cheaper, our children have( children of they own now) and we have found out that going independent is cheaper when its just us.
Most of the accomadation can be booked on the via links on the forum via e-mail or phone. As for deposit we have found that quite easy (that's where they want one) and being 13/10 which is end of season its a lovely time to go for a romantic break as not to many people about and yet if you want company you've got it. Im sure you be a bit up tight at first but once you've done it you will look forward to the next time you can go just as a couple. You can book a taxi either with your host or Arillas car hire will hire you a car for a few days and meet you at the airport. Hope this helps. Viv x

We went independent in October 2012 (see Al Sal & Becs Oct in Arillas) in Tell us Your Story. Checked flights, enquired availability and price of accommodation via email. Booked flights hand luggage only for a week, confirmed accommodation and got them to book taxi transfer sent deposit internet banking. All done in 36 hours, easy peasy.
Taxi waiting at arrivals. Go for it and have a great time
