Buying a new / used scooter in Corfu
« on: June 19, 2014, 05:46:16 PM »
Ok so I am staying a long while in Corfu ... lets say 8 weeks ...
scooter hire would cost be maybe 800 EUR ... this makes NO SENSE as you can but a scooter in the UK for £595 ... so Im looking to buy a scooter , run it for the 2 months then either keep it for future visits or sell it on for say 500 EUR therefore its only cost me 300 EUR ... it makes far more sense ... and of course remember this is Europe so as a citizen we should be able to do this yes ?

So does anyone know where I can get a used scoot ... dealers ? classifieds ?
local scooter hire shops who are selling older stock ? ...

I heard that you can buy a 50cc without a residents permit ... but not a scoot of higher cc ... anyone know about this ?

Im not resident so don't have a resident permitt or tax number etc ...

Maybe I have to buy a used scooter under the name of a proper resident then ... can I insure myself under a greek policy as a named driver ?

anyhow , the point being is I don't want to spend the same amount renting a scoot as I would BUYING ONE !

Thanks :)

Yes, do tell. I am about to import my Honda 90 but I have managed to convert it from full working order to a non-starter by changing the ignition switch. Perfect; great timing!!
