In my humble opinion - it is a lovely idea! Just not quite right, especially the hands.
We were in Arillas for 2 whole months and going again for 2 weeks :-)

Oh God I hate to ask.............. LOL
Women are like angels....   And when someone breaks our wings,
we simply continue to fly......usually on a broomstick.
We're flexible like that   ;-)

From someone whose "Matchstick" men , that I always tried to draw, and never looked like men or matchsticks, I have to say it must be great to have a talent to create something on this scale.

Not sure if this was commissioned by the local council or just a generous gift, from the artist, Jean Walsh.

It's a little like Marmite. You will either love it or hate it. I remember when Mirage first opened. It had many critics giving it the nickname of "Flintstones Park". Now many guests return there, each year, and it settles nicely into the community. Well recommended by many. Be your own judge on the Mermaid and interesting to read any feedback.

Sorry about my "giggle" earler. It was more about the...........
................ "WOTSTHATALLABOUT" not the statue. - DONCHTERKNOW??

Cheers

Ah, Steve n Carole - If only I could look that slender and sleek and, OK I may have posed for it but she got the "tail" wrong and the nose too small...........

.................So , the Mermaid is working and doing her bit for Arillas!

I foresee many pilgrimages by various groups of "Harry Krishnas" and other wonderful people to queue just to kiss the feet of this white wonder from the sea.
I will be there, selling Hot Dogs and Pukka pies and look forward to my retirement  with a hefty bank account and a Mercedes, or even just a slightly new Punto.

My opinion...?? - Keep this fishy thing and promote positive and negative comments as both will get an extra super talking/debating point for Arillas.

Well done Jean Walsh. Many reactions and many views. - LUVIT!
I still remain very envious of the talent required to produce this.
(Leave this type of thing to me and all you get is a badly made bookshelf!-not good for a beach promo!)

And another point.....
Miss "M" , I believe is now the Arillas oracle as she told me , today -
- that the England World Cup Squad is playing the Spanish Team in a friendly , next week , as they both have no plans for the next few days!!

She also said that 36/1 (First price) for Holland to win the World Cup was a steal but to put money on Belgium , each way, to get to the final.
(If she is wrong she will very soon have a very nice black moustache and specs!!!)

I did notice when I saw her that everyone gave her hands a little rub, maybe this will be our Peter Pan. :)

Good luck, will come to all who touch her hands?? (They might shrink with rubbing).

With all honesty.....there is no way I could even attempt anything like that, even to try to draw a mermaid is beyond my artistic capabilities....so thank you Jean Walsh for the Mermaid of Arillas, it has become a talking point.

  Val x
The love affair continues.
