Where is the best place to simply walk in and buy euros?

If possible, try Kanoo - you order them on-line, secure your rate then go and pick them up.  If using Sterling, you will need your Passport as ID but you don't need anything if paying by card.  I used them last year and the service was great.

The only thing about the Post Office though..... is that I find it usually has the worst exchange rate.
You would get a better rate changing money in Arillas.

Ooooh to change or not to change yet...that is the question...? Daren't do the online ones after crown currency which I always used to use went bust and everyone lost their money. Today's rate in town is 1.355....my dad mentioned something about depending on where the euros were printed what I get could be useless. Anybody know what he's on about lol?

I have just bought 415 euros for £310 at ASDA and that is 1.33 so the rate you state of 1.355 is obviously better but I am not very good at maths but I think that only makes a difference of a few pence (confused look).
