Asda are promising to have best rate within 5 mile radius of their stores with a foreign exchange booth in-store you can also click and collect. The rate may well go down slightly depending on election results here a hung parliament might cause market butterflies until it's all sorted out

Yes I ought to have been more savvy and got ASDA yesterday to price match as it sounds like Thomas Cook etc a better rate. Only works out at pence (I think) but it all adds up to maybe a few extra glasses of Retsina.

So if you need money John what do you do? Can you get some at the Marina with a cheque book or bank card?

I am sure that , with a cheque book, and guarantee card, you can get euros.

Maybe John can check that with Tria / Rainbow??

Spoke to Philip and changing a cheque with a guarantee card would cost extra above the normal because of the charges imposed by the bank.
Vas at Marina said the same. ..........we have allways brought cash and changed here, it works for us.

Thanks. Good to know in case of an emergency. Worth taking a cheque book just in case.

Before the ATM was installed, we always used to take a mixture of euros, sterling, travellers cheques, and debit card and we would ask either Olga or Philip (Tria) to change our travellers cheques, and Olga for the sterling, or card. There were plenty of other places to choose from in Arillas that would also do it.
Unless things have changed in the last couple of years, I don't think getting euros will be a problem without the ATM.

We usually take all euros and cross our fingers with some cards as back-ups but this year I am not sure whether to take sterling to change when we get there or bite the bullet and risk euros? I dont want a situation whereby the euros will be worthless whilst we are thwere  and I cant change them back if you understand what I mean?

We usually take euros but take our debit card and if things are looking a bit tight then we pay for a few evening meals with the card so we can keep the euros for the smaller things .

Very unlikely that Greece will pull out of the Euro before the end of the summer I'd suspect Jo. Sabre ratling on behalf of both parties.

It will take a LONG time for them to change currency even if Greece did pull out of the Euro . They would have to print the new currency for a start......
