Yes you can walk along the headland to San Stefanos. (bit of a hike but views are fab, remember to take some drinking water). There is a nice beach there. We stayed at the Athina hotel last year. They have one of the best pools I have ever seen in Greece and is open to anyone.Hope this helps.                                  Pauline

It is St George. Lovely place but its a long walk!  :D I'd recommend taking a water taxi!

Apparently if you do walk to St George there is a lovely Taverna overlooking the sea we havn't actually took that route but my daughter and her boyfriend walked last year and they said it was lovely. :P

Hello John,

If you are talking about right around the headland then yes it is Agios Georgios.

You will find lots of useful information on Dennis's website here:   http://www.agiosgeorgios.co.uk/index.html

There are also pages devoted to Afionas and as Lynne mentioned the views from Dionysos taverna down towards Agios Georgios are superb.

Here are a couple of links to photos of Afionas and Agios Georgios on my website

where do you get the water taxi from and how often does it go?

If you go see Sammy at the watersports he can give you a price. There is no set time. You just book your ride !

Does anyone know how long the walk would take from Arilas to St George, or the cost of a water taxi.
Thanks

has anyone ever hired one of the wee buggys and drove to san stefanos via the cliff walk/road?  Just wondering if the buggy would make it up a climb like that.

Hi JOHNB we were in Arillas in May and it took us about 1 hour to walk to St George , it was a bit warm so we thought we would get the water taxi back and we were charged 20 euros (worth every cent). It is a lot further back than you think and the boat driver (think his name is Spiros) was very informative and helpful no doubt we will do it again in 4 weeks time when we return  :D  :D

We walked over to the next village 2 years ago.It was august 4th and around lunch time.I cant remember how long it took but it took a while and it nearly killed us all.We were suppose to be visiting afionas but saw the bay down the hill and changed our minds.I can remember coming back by car,one of the waiters in a local taverna drove us all back but i cant remember how much we paid. what ever it was it was well worth it,save us walking up that great big hill.cx
Im going to become to nanna for the first time in February cx
