Title: Gayatri Festival
Post by: Eggy on June 28, 2017, 06:27:32 PM
I have seen a couple of posts and enquiries about this Festival and , as usual, being par for the course, I am totally lost.
What is this Festival , when does it happen , is it free to attend.??
Maybe it is similar to the Arillas Festival but with live music? - Surely you do not have to pay to enter but buy a few wines or Souvakis to promote the event. Is it a "closed shop" and welcome only to specific people?
 - Is it called "Gayarti" as a play on words - Is it an Arts Festival.

Anyone shed some light on this. -
Cheers

Its , putting it in my simple terms , a festival to celebrate love, life , peace and happiness through song, dance and yoga.
There were a lot of people staying in Bardis Hotel with us last year that went up to the 'retreat'everyday. Its a bit pricey to get a weekly pass to get in there, I checked, PURELY to be nosey ! ☺
I suppose it could be called "hippyish'
Anyway I have set myself up to be told my 'peasants' description of it is TOTALLY wrong 😂
You going to sign up for it mate!? 😂

It certainly isn't free, or even cheap!

Brining in business? Well, yes but last year I have to say we were in Arillas when it was on and I was not impressed on a couple of occasions at how they did not book a table in any of the tavernas but would turn  up a couple at a time taking a table for four and before you knew it there were about 16 of them all trying to get on one small table and invading everyone else's space. Rant over.

And more often than not, sharing only bottled water!

They can only afford water Jo after paying to go to the festival !!   LOL
I saw lots of festival goers out and about last year . One night Paul Wheeler (pity it wasn't Weller!) from the festival played a gig at Elena and Stella , it was the only time I saw anyone in there to be honest so I bet they were thankful for that . They also had a "bongo night" (the drum type instrument!)  in Whispers and they packed the place out. Me and the better half had a night out on our own and popped in there for one , that was enough for us even though everyone seemed friendly enough.
Having these festivals surely can't be bad for Arillas as they fill rooms as much as anything , I would say half of the people in Bardis Hotel were at the festival

Yeah you're right Karl. Just wish they would book a table like everyone else. That whole free spirit thing does not book you a table at your favourite taverna.
Jo - Lol.x

Lol !
You're right it doesn't book a table.
Can I say at this point I am not really a Guru Hippy , deep down inside , seeking harmony , love , peace and the perfect world ......
I like getting pi**ed watching football far too much to take all of that 'perfect world' rubbish seriously ! 😂😂😂😂
Just pointing out economically they must be good for Arillas

Kev n Bev

If I wanted to "bob" up n down I would get to Glastonbury Festival. Much cheaper, take your own accommodation and enjoy many more well known acts rather than a "bongo" man.
But each to their own, as it is said,  as long as people never take advantage or put their selves high on a pedestal looking down on others

However.... I may be up for it if you join me.

I'm sorry to say, that having experienced the behaviour of these people on several occasions over the years, it appears to me to be pretentious nonsense. Whilst being totally in favour of the 'hippy ideal', the people I have come into contact with on these occasions. are relatively wealthy individuals ( - often funded by Mummy and Daddy who have worked their b******s off to give them the life-style they desire - ), and have a total lack of respect and regard for the rest of the world! End of.
