Title: Where will you eat on the first night of your holiday and what will you have?
Post by: cypress on April 09, 2015, 12:15:19 AM
For me it'll be the Brouklis. I'll have lamb if it's on or the beef sofrito and I'm dying to try the orange cake this time.....

We always go to portifino the first night unless its a Sat then it's always the Greek night at Marina. If it was Sunday it would definitely be Brouklis! I always have pirtifino spiros'a amazing stuffed tomatoes and then either souvlaki or his stifado....mmmm

Will probably be Graziella (just round the corner) and garlic prawns. Or the special of the day. Or....

The only thing I can guarantee is that it will get washed down by Mythos!

Cypress...didn't realise it was you that started this topic...sorry!
I'm still thinking...It could possibly be Effies as I never want to venture far on the first evening and her garlic prawns are amazing. The sunset  views are great from there too.

OMG 4 weeks on Monday and we are constantly debating where to go on first night!! At the minute it is a cocktail to start with at Ammos followed by a long relaxing dinner at Portofino just watching the sea and taking it all in!!
Then it will be trying to work out the next 6 nights so many lovely places too little time. However a must is Brouklis,Horizon, Graziella and Ozzie Oils in San Stephanos and lunch at Akrotiri and Effies. God help the waistline x

PS Will try to get to Mon Amour too lamb chops to die for x

We arrive about 11 on the first night so my son who will arrive before us has strict instructions to have an gyros ready for us from Beachpoint. That will be washed down with Retsina. 2nd night - well who knows. Spoilt for choice. As it is a Saturday might try and get to the Greek Night at Marina as Jo has mentioned as haven't been to that for years - then again might go to Thomas', Oh I don't know, dilemma!! Nice one though.

Mon Amour, running out of Red, would be like the Pope giving a blessing in Rome wearing black fishnet tights. (And I want them back!!)
( But then , do we know what he has under that robe of his? - Do we care as long as Mon Amour can supply us with that fabulous wine? )

Portofino is usually our first taverna we use. Stifado does the trick for me. But then we have the difficult decision of where to eat the other days we are there.  Like many, we just amble along til one takes our fancy.

John and Dot, don't forget little old me, I'll be there that night at the Brouklis too!

With the promise of so many glorious days to look forward to that first evening in Arillas is always so special. Tired after the journey (flying is my nightmare and always an ordeal) along with the elongated anticipation of arrival, I seem to take exhalations that release tension at the same time as having a major buzz of excitement. And I don't stop smiling either, so much so that my face hurts.

Suzy, I don't know where Mon Amour is either. I'll have to find it now if the red wine is so good :-)

We won't arrive in Arillas until around 10pm so it will be ditch the bags and out for a beer, then eat wherever is serving :)  On our first full day though it will be lunch at Effies and probably Portofino for evening meal.  As it's been 3 years since our last visit and our first time staying for 11 nights, we hope to eat everywhere!  Must eat places are Vavilas, Brouklis and Thallasa, going to try Vinceramo this year.

Sharon's Pool Bar, Akti and Coconut for liquid refreshments!

Can't wait to get back, see old friends and finally meet a few virtual ones :)

oooh now, that's a difficult one!  I'd guess Portofino or Brooklis :)  As this year will be the first time I've taken the other half there, we will no doubt explore all the options! Afterwards it'll be a leisurely stroll around before drinks in Amos. Really looking forward to being back - this bit of sunshine has got the soul aching for Arillas!

Mon Amour. En francais, in French it means "my love." It  embodies that. My Love, meluvver. People who care for each other.

A magnificent place, superb atmosphere. The Kokkinos family supply food and joy to many, and even bus them in to join into the fun.

The rubbish Eggy describes is probably PhilnJen, our neighbourhood includes Jen being difficult. But we have high hopes we are forgiven. If you want to know where it is, Google it.

I will be up about 7 next morning go for a walk round the block while Pete gets his case unpacked, and then whatever we do, we will be back in Brouklis to have our first evening meal.xx

Mon Amour would welcome you back , any lunchtime , or Xmas Day or Paska Sunday.

And.... as Jen knows , they will always pick you up.

Our first night of our hols was alwys some where on the Sea Frong. Just a nice reminder of what we would enjoy for a coupla weeks.

Well it wasn't our first night but on Eggy's recommendation we went to Bavias, last night, (just this side of Sidari). I had Stuffed Bifteki and it was the best I have ever had - and I have had a few.

We are due to arrive at around 10pm, so we will have one of Nikos' wonderful toasted sandwiches at Mathraki, washed down with a glass of Mythos.

Then straight to Malibu for a drink.

We have no plans where to eat for the rest of the fortnight - just wherever we fancy on the night.  Always Nikos' boiled eggs for breakfast though!
