Title: should this site have a chatroom?
Post by: kerkyraios on September 08, 2018, 10:17:15 PM
hi all
Do you think that a chatroom is necessary for this site?
I think it can provide the opportunity for a better and faster contact among the members.
Your opinion?

The old chat room had it's day .
Where I met  Phil and Jen
And a long friendship began.

"Hope you are in Arillas later in this month Phil"

Used to love the chatroom, especially first thing in the morning if you couldn't sleep and somebody else also couldn't sleep.

I liked the chatroom too.... My favourite bit was when dear ole riggers couldn't keep up and had to rush off to the fridge....

It's true that we met the wonderful John and Dot in the chatroom and in Tria Adelphia one evening about 10 years ago. Such is the nature of our favourite place on earth. We have been friends ever since. Really sorry John - we won't be there at table 13 this year. Will be sending you a PM shortly.

Phil

The chat room lasted for about three years and was stopped in 2010-11. It was very successful, despite attempts to disrupt it by "trolls". Who can remember a user called "Barrell"?

This was in the days before social media so I guess that Facebook, Twitter etc have taken the place of chat rooms.
