Yes there is Angie.  It's down towards the bottom end of the village on the left hand side.

I tried to use the cash machines in San Stefanos, Avliotes, and Sidari but found that they would not accept a Visa Debit card. I did find a Cash Machine in Kassiopi that accepted it. So beware, some cash machines don't accept all cards. Have a couple of reserve cards at hand

I always use a visa debit card and have never had a problem at any of those places - only with the San Stefanos machine running out of money!

I couldn't get any money out the San Stefano cash point last summer with my Halifax debit Visa card or my Halifax Mastercard :(

Luckily Heidi's Visa worked otherwise we would of run out of beer tokens :)

San Stephanos cash machine did not accept my Halifax Visa debit card when we were there this month - thankfully the back up card (Co-operative Bank) worked just fine :)

We were fine using my Barclays connect card in the San Stephanos ATM but a couple in front of us could not use their Halifax card....

We are using the cash machine in Arillas and having two rates offered, one with guaranteed exchange rate and one without. A commission is charged for the one but we are not sure what will show on our bank statement when we get home . Any advice?

Always opt for the non guaranteed rate. The guaranteed rate offered is terrible!
It will usually show you what the guaranteed rate is, and its always a fair bit below the current rates.
If you opt out, you will usually get the rate your own bank offers, so it will depend on what they give.
If you are using a UK card, you will probably be charged for withdrawing from a non UK machine, but I think you would be charged this regardless of with rate you chose.

Thank you hippopotandmouse, that's what we thought. I assume the bank fees will be high though! Cheers

We had problems using our barclaycard credit card in the cash machines in both Arillas and San Stefanos. We were able to us it at tavernas and shops but not to withdraw cash. Not sure if it is the same for all credit cards. Fortunately were able to use our Lloyds debit card, no problem.

we had problems getting cash using a clarity credit card.  Called the bank and they sorted it within 5 minutes, apparently your first usage of a card can create a block on the account as its an unusual transaction. When we returned to UK, I complained about the inconvenience ad received £75.00 compensation.  Not bad and the exchange rate as very good at the time too.

Thanks for the advice hippopots. Spot on. Our three withdrawls in July worked out about 25 euros cheaper than it would have had we taken the guaranteed rates. Even after the bank charges. That could buy me a lot of Mythos.....

I usually pop into the bank before I fly and register my card at my bank by letting them know I will be in Corfu and how long for. I use Halifax and haven't had any issues after that.

Is the cash machine still there (2016).  I remember one year it was taken away and I was strapped for cash.

There's a new cash machine at the Marina - used it a couple of weeks ago and working fine.  There's also the one further up the road, near the bus stop and supermarket.

Hi
A word of warning in using the Arillas ATM’s
Cannot personally verify this, but talking to someone who tried to get cash from all the machines.
There was no option available to select to the exchange rate offered by his card supplier.
Having no choice , he finally had to accept the rate offered by the bank providing the machine.
He got less than a Euro for a pound sterling.
This rate is a lot lower than he would have got using his card supplier rate of exchange.
You should always be offered the option.
Geoff
