Hope not we are off tomorrow!!!! I think the web cam as been looking like that for a few days. I wonder if it has got dirty, maybe with the wind the other day blowing sand about??

The forecast does say rain but it's still quite hot. I never really take any notice of the forecasts, if it says rain it can be just a quick shower then back to lovely sunshine five minuets later

All packed and ready to go 4pm flight from Norwich

Please no rain!  We leave at 5.45 am tomorrow from London Heathrow just for the week.   Especially with great weather forecast for our area for over the weekend - would just be my luck!

So excited, especially with the wine festival Saturday night - can't wait!!  Hope it doesn't rain then!!!

SPRING65 - says wine festival starts at 8 pm on invite I received... I have a "like" to Arillas on Facebook and think I got it through there.  I believe it is somewhere around the Brouklis restaurant.    I'll find it whatever!!!

Really looking forward to it.  Have been to Greek Islands many times but never to a wine festival.

Leave home in 20 mins for airport - yippee!!!!

Rain was probably "On n Off" for about 90 minutes, yesterday morning, around 10:30 ish.

Twas luverly if you haven't seen much since May.
Good for that 'ole soil.

By about 3pm it was a distant memory.

Hope the weather reports I keep seeing are wrong see forecast is thunderstorms for Friday when we arrive !!

In my experience, the 'forecast rain' mostly falls over Corfu Town side this time of the year, as long as the winds are blowing from the sea in Arillas. October sees a few thunderstorms, but they can be dramatic, and are usually over in an hour. Plenty of sunshine left yet!

Martin.

Unfortunately they were right about the rain forecast... We arrived home yesterday afternoon after a gorgeous week in Arillas.  Weather fabulous all week until Thursday when it was very windy in the morning - but still beach weather.  We came up from the beach for a long lunch and when we returned all the beds had been moved and the sea had come in!!

It started raining Thurs evening at about 8 pm and the storms were amazing and it never stopped raining until we left yesterday (or lightning/thunder).  When we arrived at the airport we were told we weren't sure if any flights would be taking off as they didn't believe any flights could land - visibility was nil and rain was still pouring.    Our flight finally left 2.5 hours late which wasn't bad - there had been talk by our rep of all flights being postponed for 24 hours.   We were advised locally that forecast was similar for next few days..... and then we arrived home to UK sunshine, what a treat.

But what I wouldn't give to be sitting back in Efi's with a glass of retsina....

Lovely report. We have done serious storms in Arillas and they are so exciting. I love Arillas when the weather is wild. September seems to be the peak of the year for that, but mostly like mid summer.

But our times were always in the context of many days / weeks of summer weather. Have felt so sorry for those who were there for one week in late September 2008. Much of that one week was dominated by storms. After two and a half weeks (no, not nine and a half, dirty minds....) of glorious hot weather, Jen and me just loved every minute of it. Got trapped in the Coconut Bar with torrential rain crashing sideways across the doors. Perry and Kostas soaked to the skin. More Black Russians....

Justlove the spirit daisyday. Mine wouldn't be retsina, but watching the storm from Efi's would be heavenly for me.

Our next trip is in december, weather websites suggest an average of 10 inches of rain in december, so it should be interesting! Not too sure whether I'll be brave enough to swim either.

Will you visit Arillas in December just to see what it's like in winter?
Then again I bet you will be too busy getting your new home ready for the spring.
I do envy you Nic and John, just wish we had thought that we COULD have done it long ago........ before the grandchildren came along.

Enjoy your trip, it will soon be here.

I'm hoping we'll go to arillas and san steph just to have a look what it's like in winter (I may have to try a swim), we won't be making too many winter trips so I think we should take this opportunity. As it's fully furnished, there is nothing to do on the house other than ensure the bills are organised (which the laywer tells us she will do), and pick up the paperwork. We're thinking we'll do a few of the walks in the north east, from Hillary Paipetti's guide.
We can only use the house for about 5 weeks per year, so we're hoping our family will use it during the summer too.

I think whatever rain there's been in Arillas or Corfu in general has been like it across much of northern Greece. Friends of ours got back from Halkidiki around a couple of weeks ago. Said it had been wall to wall rain for 5 out of the 7 days they were there.

Harold, hope that it soon stops, it seems to have swept right across the country this week, but the southwest is having it very bad.

Keep dry and stay well,

OMG do I wish I were sitting on my bench opposite Thalasaa right now. Watching Gravia, with not a care in the world.

Instead I am worrying about the weather and my son's need to get back to work in Surrey on Monday. My own journey to Yeovil on Monday seems like nothing by comparison, but might be disastrous.

oh my god, OMG, I WISH that Jen and I were there now.

Hi Steve and Carole, I just wish that I was watching huge seas in Arillas. Look after yourselves, the southwest is suffering badly.

Bit rough today
just watching the W e b c a m and the waves were flooding the road, looking a bit rough.

Been watching on and off all day......at one point the jetty was disappearing with each wave, just the road end showing.
Then the road started to flood, do hope not too much damage is being done.

It's been a pretty rough time for all here.

36mm of rain from yesterday afternoon to 10am. That's 139mm from the evening of the 29th Nov.

The wind has been so strong that, this evening, it lifted my large poly shed and turned it on it's side. Bearing in mind that it originally took 3 of us to lift and site it, shows the strength of the "breeze" An hour later, it put it upright again. (But in a different place!) I need to assess the damage tomorrow.
5 power cuts tonight ranging from a 30 second blip to 10 minutes.

9 deg outside at 10 pm and still blowing away merrily, with a few hailstones thrown in for good measure.

That's it folks. I'll quickly post this and switch off before nature switched off for me. - Cheers Negg

Various stories , Valnbill, of trees being blown down and a couple of yachts worse the wear in Corfu Town Harbour. A corragated roof vanished from a small Taverna in Perolades

My 3mt x 2mt poly shed, which had a framework made from 100mm square timber, ended up in the neighbours garden. It took two of us, this morning just to carry the roof back.

Life continues though and we now sit here with a dry 12 deg outside albeit a couple of power blips. Home at 10pm after two beers and now wondering what all the fuss was about!

Cheers
