Ok folks the Season will soon be upon us so what I thought would be fun and a great taster for any newbies would be to tell everyone where you will go to eat on your first night in Arillas and what will you be having?
For us it will be Brouklis with feta stuffed pepper and cheese pies to start and the sublime lamb chops and moussaka for mains accompanied by some ice cold wine ....mmmmm...
-
I'll be eating at The Horizon having the fabulous Pastisada with chocolate souffle for dessert. I already cant wait for it!!!
-
Not a clue ........ I will just go with the flow when we arrive ............. :-)
-
My first night always has to be somewhere on the seafront. Usually we go to Vnceremos and have baked feta in the oven and Kleftiko if they have it on. That is if our first meal is in the evening. If breakfast then it would be at Gratziellas. If lunch then definitely gyros at Beachpoint.
-
If its July then there is only one place for us
Brouklis Table 13 with Phil and Jen it's an annual ritual
We may not be able to do it in July this year due to Jens operations, but with a little luck and if all is well I'm sure we will make it sometime between the start and end of the season.
First visit will be in May nothing in the pipeline but possibly Vavillas or Gratsella
-
First vist arriving late evening 5th May so will eat at Mathraki, then think it will be Brouklis or Graziella but in the two weeks we will hopefully vist all of our favourites, Effi's Thomas for his fabulous fish, Kostas on The Beach, Marina, Kaloudis (for their yummy roast lamb,) but our absolute favourites are the first two on the list. We will also try the old Captains just can't remember the new name😃 day time coffee and beer will be at Beach Point.
For our second visit in June just repeat the list, but with Bills' sister and brother-in-law.

arrive Friday 12th may early afternoon, so maybe a stroll along to the beachpoint, then graziellas in the evening. we will have martins sister with us hopefully she will love our little place in paradise!
Saturday will be marina then sunday brouklis for the spit roast lamb. Malibu to see George, mirage to see Vicky, the list is endless, we need to be there for at least a month to get round everyone!!!!
-
Oooo. Food talk! I'm all over this one :-)
Sunday 21st of May will find us either at Brouklis, Horizon, Gratziellas, Portofino, Marina, Vinceremos, Effi's, Thomas' or Armourada. For such a compact resort there's so much wonderful food to choose from. Who knows, we'll change our minds a hundred times before we get there. One thing for sure, we'll get round them all in the 11 nights we're there.
Right now I fancy Garlic Prawns at Effi's and Lewis you've made me want to try chocolate soufflé at the Horizon, never had that before.
-
this year no plans as we get in late so some where close Portofino may be
-
The problem is, we always seem to be 'taken over by events'. Our intention, is always to eat at the Brouklis. However, the reality is quite often otherwise! That's the beauty of Arillas. You go for quick aperitif in the 'Nut, get talking to someone ( - you have maybe never met before, and then bump into someone that you have - ) and four hours later, find yourself asking George in the Malibu for a plate of chips to soak up the alcohol!
Happy. happy. happy.
-
If we only want a short walk it will probably be the Marina, or a short further toddle to the Thalassa, however if Kosta's on the beach is open early it might be there. What a great choice, because all those mentioned above are well worth a visit.

Pat

It could be one of a few great tavernas but probably Portofino for their amazing vegetarian mousaka. Effie's is a another or Kostas on the Beach. Or graziella or............... So many lovely familiar friendly faces to see too.
-
beach point for a gyros and mythos for us me thinks!
-
First night is always in Armourada and usually fish of some sort with lashings of white vino *deep sigh* ......well, only 205 sleeps and I can't wait 8)
-
NEVER been in Armourada but will try it this year!
-
Off thread I know........but who is the beautiful baby in your new profile picture Dave.

First Night - Not sure, we will however try them all again. The count down has began!!
-
First night is always at The Rainbow, where we stay. Excellent food. Val always starts her holiday with lamb chops, I'll have to wait and see what's on the menu.
-
After an era of staying at Bardis Sun Studios arriving at midnight or later, our usual first "meal" is several Mythos catching up with Poppy, Bobby and Katerina. The following evening is often Graziella, eating their incredibly good value special, but by the end of day one we're up for whatever takes the fancy. So much choice to get through in 3 short weeks......
Phil
-
That was our "first meal" last year as well Phil as we arrived late , Mythos at Bardis Sun Studios. :-)
It became our adopted "bar" for the rest of the holiday after that as Bardis Hotel's bar , where we were staying, closes early evening.

Hi Val
thats our first Grandchild, Dominic.
He was born in July, so thats why we didn't end up in Arillas last year!
but we had a cheeky 11 days in Kato Gouves, Crete in September.
Dave
-
Congratulations he's beautiful....we now have four grandsons, we are willing to swop for awhile if you're agreeable 😊
-
ha ha
we might be able to bring him to Arillas sometime, I hope you will be available to babysit 😁
-
We certainty would, we could take him with us for our first night meal.......do you think Brouklis or Graziella would be ok. Both restaurants are very welcoming to babies.
We could do a deal you could take our four.... they range in age from 18 years to 18 months. Lol
Val x 😉
-
ok we will do one night, and you and bill could do four.
-
Hope you can keep up with the drinks bill for the eighteen year old, even for one night, the other three drink orange juice. Four nights of just milk will be ok with us. Lol
We are I quite sure Thomas will warm some milk for Dominic....and Dimitri would too.
So it's first night taverna Brouklis or Graziella for us.
Val x
-
might have a word with Dimitri to see if he could just do orange juice for a night, so its Brouklis for us then😉
-
7 of us this year and the question has been asked regarding Night Owl. Does anyone know if they do transport up to the taverna? We ate there twice last summer and really enjoyed it
-
always Brouklis

The answer to this will interest me too .....
-
I would also be interested in this answer. I doubt it but it would be great if they did as we went for the first time last year and really enjoyed it. No doubt, Eggy will know as I think it is virtually his second home? lol.
-
I don't think so which is a shame as I'm sure many more people would like to visit it. I know that Mon Amour do free transport though and that is also well worth a visit.
-
You can book a " Take n return " to get to Mon Amour but Night Owl cannot offer this free transport facility. I know that, on occasions, Linda/Nickos have given lifts back to Arillas, for their customers, but only if not busy, and if they all fit in car.
Cheers

Neil you could make a good earner roofrack and trailer
Three piece sweet in trailer luxury seating those how like the fresh air can sit on the roofrack I put the money up so you can get a new roofrack

Twice we have arrived in Arillas from the airport so late at night that the hotel restaurant has been closed. (Two different hotels.)
Both times somebody has gone into the kitchen and fixed us a lovely snack. Those first night meals, eaten in an exhausted state,
are part of why we keep returning. Emeralddragons
-
Emeralddragons, the same happened to us on our first visit in 2002, we were staying at Marina....when we arrived after midnight the staff were closing the restaurant but George (Didas' dad) insisted we have something to eat before going to our room.
Five minutes later we sat down to soup and rolls ......where else would you get such hospitality but in Arillas. This is why we return every year.

The same hassle happened to us when beautiful Poppy has made us an gyros. I love the hospitality of the people in Arillas.

When we went Kevin we turned up on mopeds. It must have been quite a sight. I am up for giving your suggested modes of transport a go. Better than walking and as long as there is Retsina at the end of it!

I don't know what happened to this post. It is certainly not what I typed and it was Monday night so hadn't been drinking!
It should have read:-
The same thing happened to us and the beautiful Poppy at Bardis Sun Studios made us an gyros.
