Title: North beach
Post by: Sandy x on May 03, 2014, 12:20:52 PM
Had a walk on the beach this morning after my swim. Had a little paddle and the sea is warmer than the pool...

The good news is that there looks to be a lot of sand on the north beach, as there is on the first part as you walk down there. However, there are the usual two places where there would be a lot of deep wading to do to get right along to the north end at the moment.
We have a bit more rain to come I suspect before the weather settles, but I am sure within a few weeks we should be able to get there as usual.

Hi Sandy
Thanks for the information on North Beach.  I really appreciate it.  About this time every year I start 'fretting' about the width of the beach, the depth of the deeper sections (as I am not very tall, this is also important to me!!!).  I might say that Robin will be equally happy to have a good 'Beach Report' if it stops me 'going on' about it every time I see the forum!!!
And although we are not arriving until 16 June, it's good to hear we're doing OK as far as the beach is concerned, fingers crossed.  So I can now turn my mind to everything else I regularly worry about when we're preparing to travel!!!

Thanks again Sandy
Regards Mavis and Robin xx

Spent yesterday on North Beach....the best it has been for several years in my view. Very wide and you can get right to the end. At the moment the sea is calm so access is easy....you can walk on sand round the first rock and just a few yeards of easy wading round the second.
Happy days!

Many thanks Sandy,
It sounds perfect, especially for me (with short legs!)  Everything's slotting into place and it's only 3 weeks on Monday and we'll be there
....Great!

This post has made many beach lovers very happy. The main beach is looking vastly improved also for this time of year. What a treat for all you newbies!

The main beach is huge at the moment....looking more so because there are not many people on it! Most of the big rocks that were put there last year have gone/disappeared/been moved.....

Thats interesting Sandy! I thought those rocks had been there to help the beach and presumed they had made the difference this year! Seems it was mother nature!

Hi everyone,

Have just returned following 10 brilliant days on the North Beach. Pleased to report that the beach was getting wider every day that we were there and by all reports it is now as good as at any time in the last few years. Sea still a bit cool for my liking though.

Also a quick thank you to Karen & Dave for their excellent company and and the introduction into the wonderful world of building stone towers. Hope to see you both next year.

Regards
Dave & Sandra

hi Bob,

This is their second week, think they are due to go home on Friday.

And yes they are staying at the Kaloudis.

On their recommendation we went for lunch at Effies (?), which we thoroughly enjoyed and promptly went again the following couple of lunchtimes. They do a very nice spinach pie.

Regards
Dave

Hi Dave,

I don't think you don't know us , but if you see Karen and Dave again before they go home, please give them a big hug from us. They must have arrived on the day we left this year. Just say thank you for the support and sympathy they showed us during our somewhat traumatic stay last Sept, when my mother died whilst we were out there.  Sorry we missed them. Maybe we can catch up if they are back in Sept this year.

Kind regards, Nigel and Carol.

The north beach is the widest we have seen it since 2010. Jo Wissett will be pleased sea not even knee height at rocks. You can walk along the beach from the jetty right to the end of the North Beach. Clear skies little breeze and temps of 32C +.

Jo forgot to mention there are now 12 umbrellas and 24 sun loungers on the north beach, very few takers once again temps in the mid 30c mid afternoon no wading slight breeze. Beach at least 40 feet deep. Life is so good and looking after your apartment and swing.

Never thought I`d see the day there`d be umbrellas and beds on north beach. (Except our little brolly).  For me, I`d rather they weren`t.  Spoils the `natural` look, so to speak.

Thanks for the info , Alan.

Yes, I remember it well.  Think you were close to death. If you`re there in September, same might happen.   Fun times, good banter etc.

Amazed to hear this. I don't have a problem with sunbeds and umbrellas on North beach. But can laugh at the job description of the attendant.....

"Must be able to cope charmingly with difficult situations"
"Able to respond to people covered in Green Mud"
"Not phased by very large people with no clothes on"
"Ability not to stare at new sights"
"Sense of humour"

I am sure there are many and better requirements of somebody who is blessed/cursed with that job.

Hi, can anyone give us some idea how much beach has been left for us after the storm????!!!  I know we've enjoyed a wonderful wide beach once this year, but it would be brilliant to know we might have the same when we get back (26 Sept)!!!!
Thank you xxx

"Must be able to cope charmingly with difficult situations" -  Bugger off and get a life
"Able to respond to people covered in Green Mud" Dear God! - You look really awful
"Not phased by very large people with no clothes on" Strewth-Look at the size of you!"
"Ability not to stare at new sights""Excuse my whistling but you don't interest me
"Sense of humour"" Hee Hee Hee and you haven't even gone in the sea yet!"

Do you think my responses qualify me for the job, Phil?

XaXa Eggy mate. You must be the least qualified applicant in history!

But I bet you'd be brilliant doing it. Many who frequent the North beach are a bit wary about the whole issue, and to be made to laugh at a skinny middle aged drunk taking the "michael" out of them would relax them completely. Er, didn't mean you! And now I'm no longer skinny, I have given up trying!

Brouklis and Beach.......(and Kaloudis)  that's our Arillas!!!

Hi Sandy, I have just realized from our recent contact about North Beach, that I got the impression you were leaving Arillas on the 18th Sept but reading the post again now, if I'm right, I can see that you are arriving (in Arillas) today(the 18th!!) I think!
We've got another week to wait of course!!
Anyway, you enjoy your stay, and thank you again.  We may see you 'around', here and there!

Hi Paul   Thanks for your information on the North Beach.  Well, we've done really well this year good beach June and now this....brilliant.  We've been so many times to Arillas and in different conditions, very unpredictable, but then we wouldn't have it any other way!!  And you're having to leave it behind......Anyway, there's always next year!!
Have a good journey home and thank you again.

I've just seen a picture on Arillas.com looks like a paddle around the rock will be needed and it's a bit narrow but we will still be there. Looks like the beds have took most of the sand but like to be a bit further down anyway. Take a look for your self

First day on the beach Saturday and Sunday were a bit windy for us. Still a bit windy today but was ok, sea is O M G a bit chilly, sea is a bit rough but only got into the waist. Forecast is for wind to drop and change direction so sea should warm up nicely.
