I believe that we can use our phones in Arillas as we would at home and incurr no extra charges? Has anyone done this and we're there any surprise bills on your return? Slightly nervous of picking up Albania!!

Hi JO,
You will be fine. 3 have offered it for over a year now and I have never been caught out!
I am currently typing this in Benidorm hungover! 😂

Hi
If in doubt about Albania, turn roaming off, you can still make calls etc that come from your UK allowance or at UK costs.
If you look at your providers website they will tell you about the countries that are included in their packages

I did it for the first time in the last two weeks because my phone gave that message when I switched it on. I am with vodafone...haven't had my bill yet!

Hi
Have you tried WhatsApp? You can ring anybody in the world who is also using WhatsApp and send photos and videos for free and data does not come off your package allowance. All you need is a WiFi connection
Other apps are also available which do the same.

Used mine in June and all ok, was a bit worried but no nasty surprises with the bill, didn't pick up Albania at all.

Great thanks everyone that's reassuring. To be honest I use wifi anyway but will be handy to use of the connection is a bit slow. And Neil and Gill wow didn't realise you had seen him. Soft lad never tells me nowt! X

Hi
Last night on Watchdog there was a mention of a tourist in Greece who found their telephone bill included an additional £80 roaming cost.
They had picked up an Albanian service provider.
The advice given by their advisor was to turn off the automatic carrier setting and select a provider manually.
The auto setting allows your phone to select the strongest signal available. Select manual and you can choose a Greek carrier.
Whether or not turning roaming off is sufficient on its own to prevent such a charge, was not mentioned.
